My one was recalled for the DPF, although never had any problems with it. So hopefully shouldn't have to much problems in the future. 21MY Defender 90 S 3.0 D200

Interesting Confused I've never had a problem in the 7000 miles but also haven't been asked to come in for an update. Is it an official recall?

I think yours will be OK, I asked LPR to check this on mine before delivery and as yours was new from the factory about six weeks later I would be surprised if this was not done at the factory. Won't hurt to check though Thumbs Up

Norway 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Manual Stornoway Grey

Our 2007 FL2 has a DPF which gave a lot of problems last year (3rd year of life) and which resulted with a complete replacement system being fitted just before the warranty ran out. There is also a sensor that may become faulty and give wrong information about the DPF being full, but it seems in general DPF's are going to give a lot of problems because they dont work as they should (poor design?). If it was possible to choose - stay well away from them as they also reduce the BHP from 160 to 152. 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Zermatt Silver

I have a 2011 SD4 new in December 2010.

Within just six weeks I had the same problem with the DPF.

LR Assist came out to me, downloaded some new softwear, which appeared to correct the problem.

Four days later it happened again. LR Assist came out and when told the new downloaded had been downloaded a few days early he told me that he could do nothing and the car would have to go back to my dealer.

I started to wonder what I had bought. I have never bought a new model new car before as I have always been aware that invariably all 'new model' cars have teathing problems and when buying new before I have always waited at least 12 months before I bought the new model.

I was aware that the 2011MY FL was more than just a facelift in respect of the engine/gearbox but hoped that it wasn't too far removed from the 2010MY model and there would be no problems as a result of the changes made.

My FL was taken back to my dealers on the back of an AA truck as being an auto they could not tow it.

I was provided with another FL2 from Enterprise Vehicle Rental at no cost to me.

The dealer had my car for about a week while they liased with LR and another new programme was written by them, downloaded onto my vehcle and I was told by the dealers that they were instructed to remove a restrictor from the pipework.

Since then I have covered over 11k miles without any further problems. ( I say this with everything crossed - twice).

I have no regrets in buying my 2011MY despite the little problems.

That was exactly my feeling after buying FL2 annoying DPF-Problems accompanied by limp mode cropped up: how it comes that a new car could not sustain a normal driving cycle without limiting my transportation possibilities with reduced engine performance.. If I am not mistaken before MY2011 the DPF was not mounted on cars for Britain, but now and this concerns SD4 as well, every FL2 (at least for European market) is equipped with sooth-filter since JLR has to comply with Euro 5 Norm. To keep it short, either JRL will finally sort out what they messed up with DPF or the FL2 drivers on the Island will have to learn, how driving a FL2 with DPF can solve your spare-time problems Wink

Mines 242876 registered March 11 so presumably its the early facelift models affected - how many SD4's to they churn out a day?
