Not only do I love my Freelander, but I love getting it mucky and using it as God intended! Laughing

It's doing around 3,000 miles a month, gets muddy, is washed and gets all muddy again. Mud suits it like no other car I've owned before Very Happy I'm like a 5 year old boy with a new set of wellies!

I'm still not sure what the worry is about getting splashed with a little water!... Rolling Eyes

I did notice at Halewood that the Freelander used on the experience had the Spats fitted and they did scrape on the section where they demonstrate the Traction Control, but it unless you do the "hefty" stuff cant see them being a problem.

For info,
I’ve just been quoted the following revised part numbers from the web (Rimmers):
LR032270
LR029532
Ties in with the part number shown on the L/R label in the photo on the first post. Seems like these numbers have changed a few times.
If npinks is correct and they cut down on splashes, for the price I’m going to order a pair.
Looks good in the photos.

Just received the parts from the dealer, and must admit I’m a little confused.
As mentioned previously it appears the part numbers have change recently. I have LR029532 L/H and LR032205 R/H, which I understand are the latest numbers
The L/H spoiler is larger than the R/H spoiler and to me looks a little odd when fitted (The Left hand looks like the item in the photographs at the beginning of this post but the right looks like the type fitted to a new FL2 at the dealer).
Just beware if ordering these as I’ve been caught out before with changing Land Rover part numbers (Freelander 1 fuel parts to name one of many).

Just to add to the part number debate.
I recently (Oct) received from my trusty official UK LR dealer's parts department the two front spats/bibs (call'em what you want) and they are both exactly the same size. Here's the LR part numbers and LR's description:

LLR029531 Cover-Bumper
LLR029532 Shield-Side

OK, I understand that the latest models (MY 2012 ??? as seen at the main dealer) are fitted with slightly smaller parts:
LR032206 L/H
LR032205 R/H
Both these now fitted to mine (2007) and look OK (End of saga).

Any chance of posting a pic so we can all see what the slightly smaller parts look like on the car?! So what is the purpose of smaller ones?

From what I have been told from a fellow 4 x 4 source (note not a Land Rover source) the larger ones were suspect to getting damaged on high kerbs and off road obstuctions (not sure if many FL2s venture that far off road. Mine goes as far as muddy fields). Not bad for the price considering the cost for other trim parts. Surprised

Thanks Eurolandy Thumbs Up They look better than the earlier, larger ones IMHO. I take it fitting is similar to the earlier version and that they will fit a 2010 MY vehicle? As for effectiveness , who knows, but I have noticed a lot of cars, not just 4x4's have these bibs or whatever fitted these days including my partners BMW 335i convertible. 2010 HSE TD4 auto, Biscay Blue, Almond Leather, facelift front and rear, detachable towbar, front & rear mudflaps, bib spoilers, clear high level brake light, smooth rear wiper, colour coded door handles.

The mounting points appear to be the same for both versions, suppose it saves on tooling costs as it uses two existing mounting points on the bumper. Just pilot drill and use a self tapping screw and large washer for the third position. A bit of copper grease on the screw thread and head helps keep the rust at bay.

Thanks Eurolandy. I will be ordering some in the New Year hopefully before LR realises their price is somewhat low compared to other parts!!
