my advice would be if you actually see the vehicle, drive it, etc and it meets your needs, go for it.

I was originally going to look at two 2007 S FL2's but at the last minute found a GS for a similar price so chose to buy it.

4x4's and similar vehicles will normally suffer from seasonal price changes - it's all to do with the weather and the availability of them.

I'm p/x ing a 4x4 kia sportage 2010 though. He said he had 'miscalculated' and they had brought the car in at the wrong price.

Still a big improvement, S or otherwise. The 2011 model year "S" represents phenomenal value for money; it has all the essential bits, with the exception of bluetooth telephone connection (which is vital for me, but may not be important for you) and it's even blessed with 16" wheels, which are far more appropriate for off road use. Other than that, if all I could have afforded was an S, I would have been very happy all the same. My only serious concern would be that the 2010 model year S may not come with Terrain Response; I don't know about you, but one of the major reasons for buying a Freelander for me was to keep getting to work through the snow when it arrives this year (I live on Bodmin Moor) and I wouldn't want to do without the Terrain Response. PS: AS a matter of interest, why are you changing from the Kia to the Freelander (apart from reasons of good taste and breeding, obviously!) |

I am changing from a kia to a freelander as i wanted a freelander back in April when we got the kia. My husband was supposed to be driving the kia but has now said that it's too big for him to park at work and has bought a smaller car. I just said in passing sort of thing, oh if id have known that i was going to end up with the kia, id have bought a freelander so he said, oh get one then if you like (he does spoil me ha) so that is how i've ended up looking for one after only owning the kia since April

Thanks Tigger. I think i'll wait for the GS. It's an XS i've got a deposit on at Stratstones but their 'customer service' has been appalling up to now so we think we are cancelling it. It's only coming from another site not too far away and is still not here. They promised it Friday, Saturday, Monday and today and still not here and when i ring, i feel like they are laughing as they fob me off. |

Terrain response is not a big deal and is really a gimmick. Careful use of the right foot and it's not needed as the FL2 has traction control anyway. Never used it on my FL2 or D3 and doubt I'll use it on the D4 either.

Hi there, I recently purchased a 59 reg s model previously having 2 freelander one models and am very happy with it.Was orginally looking for a gs model but picked up a low mileage 23k for only £13500.Have just put roof rails on it and side moulding and am really happy, the only thing i would change are the wheels which i intend to do next year.So my advice is go for it. |

I beg to differ after I took my training course at Land Rover's Honiton off road training course during the summer. I spent half a day continually driving around their course with one of their instructors, including attempts in each of the TR modes and could certainly feel the difference in the way the car reacted in each of the modes. I too would have dismissed it as a gimmick until they proved the differences to me. |
