Despite all you are told, the Highlanders are not friendly. People are quite rude. Believe it or not, we find southerners a lot more polite.

Wow! What a site - so many very useful responses in such a short time. Thanks guys. From a quick poll it looks like Stratstone come bottom!

Oh yes and I forgot to mention that I too was totally ignored when I first went in. Ended up walking out. I should have got the message then and there. I also requested a brochure and test drive on the LR website - it took two weeks for a response.

One last try with the manager of Stratstone tomorrow - maybe after that I'll talk to Lookers Razz

I wonder if the deal you got was so good that the Censored Service is their way of getting out of it or the sold the car to a higher offer accidentally

i've heard of it happening before, or they are such good performers they don't need your sale Rolling Eyes

Interesting thought. I did wonder. The deal was about £350 below the What Car target price. I didn't think that was going to cause them too much pain!

I visited our local Stratstones in Perth sometime early January. I was reasonably pleased with the salesman but when the Sales Manager appeared with a 'Iknow more and am better than you' attitude I told him what I thought. Finally made a deal for a new XS with another LR dealer The deal- £1900 to my benefit. I never say never but it will be 'last chance saloon' before I return for a car at Stratstones Cool Cool

After going on a free land Rover experience we went to nearby dealers, Stratstone in Milton Keynes, after being ignored for twenty minutes we left, we found a frelander we liked at Guy Salmon, Thames Ditton. The salesmen,
Jimmy, was excellent and we got a deal we were pleased with phone calls were always returned and and we felt valued, follow up calls were made to see that everything was alright and it made us feel valued. The car was ready as promised and we would definately buy from them again. No idea what the service dept will be like but will probably use one closer to home (how can servicing cost cary so much from dealer to dealer, with Honda its the same, reasonable, price wherever you go. When will dealers realise that poor service = customers going elswhere.

Having the same issue with Harwoods Basingstoke - Placed an order for a replacement HSE in very early Feb with a promised delivery date mid March. Having not heard back and chasing the sales guy multiple times finally got an estimated date of 22nd April the other day.

That's a 11 wk delivery date from order Exclamation Exclamation , the worst I have seen on this site!!

Also service department is rubbish in phoning back to arrange anything. I should have gone to Lookers in London or Lancaster’s in Reading but wanted to give my dealer one last chance after their recent move to new premises and change of dealership (former Webbers), also being local is appealing. Such a bad choice, wish I had not gone back Big Cry Big Cry

England

There have been a few postings not just in this thread but other threads also, about a certain dealer that has outlets in all areas of the UK but a lot of the issues seem to be with the ones towards the southern end of the UK. It seems that they do really believe that we are here for their benefit rather than they are here for ours. A number of postings there are mentions of being ignored in the showroom yes this certain dealer is very good at this so they probably do training classes to hone their skills on this.
One thing that seems to crop up time after time is they do not seem to like customers just walking in off the street they want you to make them feel special and make an appointment to see the sales staff, they have seen how impressed the customer is with having a problem on his vehicle that could be fixed in thirty minutes but you need to book it in for a date usually about two weeks away, four if you want a courtesy car because that thirty minute job they need your vehicle for the day.

But if they carry on with this attitude of we are here to serve them they will disappear in time. Can you imagine going to Tesco’s and the sales assistant turning you away because you had not booked an appointment.

I tried to get an appointment for an MOT with this same dealer a few weeks ago, the first appointment was three weeks away Shocked and yes they wanted it for the day? p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior

Feel I have to say in Stratstones defence that, I have never had cause for complaint with Stratstones of Stourbridge.

Update

Well, the latest news from Stratstone Cheltenham is more javascript:emoticon('Censored')BS. My FL2 XS which was slated definitely to be built in the 1st week in March is now on priority build for the last week in March. Lack of manual gearboxes apparently.

I wonder what the next excuse will be when we get to the end of March.

I'm taking all your good advice and am now talking to Lookers
