Bought a Haldex service kit with the intention of replacing oil and filter only to find I have been unable to remove the filler bolt. Any ideas on how to loosen it? I have tried a 13mm spanner without success and a 13mm socket is just not an option with the lack of space. A spanner of better quality may have to be purchased as a second try as the somewhat cheapie one has started to ring the bolt.

A good sharp tap with a small hammer and then a good fitting ring spanner should shift it 2009 FL2 S now gone

Tried the sharp tap with the hammer but almost ringed it. Probably would be a must to buy a good quality ring spanner.

Just wondered how the Indy topped up the Haldex after changing the filter. Time to source a filler plug as well. |

That was my worry as well. It’s a garage I’ve trusted in the past and the question is if the removed the fillet plug at all. It certainly doesn’t look like it’s ever been touched but then again miles of road dirt over the last year and all. Been looking for a 6 point spanner but our local motor factors sometimes aren’t best served for variety. Most likely an internet purchase. Need to upgrade my tool box for future proofing 😂 |

Finally managed to get the filler plug out with a 6 point spanner, drained the oil which looked rather black with lots of bits! Think the plug had been torqued too high but at least got the new oil in.

Well done for getting it sorted. I got my haldex serviced at and Indy as I was worried about how long the bolt had been sat there getting road muck on it. Hopefully next time it will loosen ok. |

That fluid is much lighter in colour than it should be. Genuine Haldex fluid is brown in colour. Are you definitely sure it's the correct fluid, and not gear oil? Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. That old Haldex oil looks really dirty. This was the colour of mine coming out, when I did the 10 year service.

That's interesting, as the Febi Bilstein (genuine as far as I can tell) Haldex fluid I use is darker than the fluid on the left in the above picture, but not as dark as the old fluid on the right. Interestingly and annoyingly for me, my Haldex starts to shudder about 1000 miles after a fluid change. I've yet to update the software, or calibrate the clutch pack, but it's strange how a fluid change cures the shudder for a while. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4.
