New guy in here

Hi folks!

Just bought a 2008 F2 Alaska White S model after I sold my Disco 3 2009 HSE. The reason I sold the Disco was that I was tired of constantly trashing money on it.
Second reason was that my wife got a 2008 F2 HSE and it runs and runs and runs... You get it Wink Wink

Well it seams I bought a lemon Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

So far: Broken rear drive shaft, non function rear left door lock, 2 key fobs stopped to work. Sigh..
Well I'll lurk around to see if I can sort out some of my problems, if not I will post some questions.

Happy coming holidays Very Happy Very Happy

welcome and sorry to hear about your breakages

1. broken drive shaft - its a 10 year old car so could happen to anyone, any make at any time really
2. door lock - its a fairly common problem and a relatively easy cheap DIY fix (just search door locks on here)
3. key fobs - again the batteries are 10 years old, there is a user on here that will refurbish them like new (have a look in the for sale/wanted section)

Cheers Rog!

I've ordered a new drive shaft at Advanced Factors and key fob sorted today. One fob is shot I think Twisted Evil but the other one is up and running with new case and battery Thumbs Up

Just mad at my self to miss faulty door lock, however who checks the doors if they lock or not? I will next time though Very Happy

Ordered sun protection today, cause the car looks a bit naked without Cool

Hello and sidelight issue

New to the Freelander in Sept. Main reason to tow caravan. Thought I would upgrade the sidelights having already put Night Breakers in the projectors and main beam. Read up about canbus etc and bought resnably expensive LEDs Twenty20 from AutoBulbsDirect.
Popped then in 2 nights ago - wow, lovely bright white light.

Came into the drive last night to find nearside out. Pulled the LED out put the original 501 in - no show. Put the metre on over went the needle to 10 or so volts. Tried the LED again and it momentarily flickers but neve lights. It's like there is 10+ volts there but only a few milli amps.

I've now read a thread elsewhere on here talking about FETs actually running the circuits like fuses and by either pulling the appropriate fuse or disconnecting battery it resets them.

My question is, presumably I'm going to get the same fault fairly quick? Does anyone else have LEDs in that cause this problem or know of a way round it?

Welcome! There are 3 fuse boxes in the Freelander. One under the bonnet on the R/H side near the battery. 2nd one up behind the glovebox on the passengers side and the 3rd one in the boot on the L/H side of the spare wheel well. Thumbs Up

You are right that every lamp on the FL2 is individually controlled and switched by FET.
The link below is a search on the subject of LED Lights.

I have spend days browsing through topics and getting useful guidance and information. Hopefully I will be able to contribute when I get more involved with the vehicle. Thanks again.

Greetings from Banbury Borders!

Hello,

Just joined as have been lurking a while prior to taking the plunge with a MY13 HSE Lux.

Very impressed with it so far, and there appears to be a considerable wealth of information on here. I look forward to contributing over time.

Best wishes all
