Key Fob Query.. with Video

I have two fobs for my 2010MY GS. Both lock and unlock the car without issues. Physically they both look the same.

One of them however often sticks in the slot mechanism, either going in or coming out - sometimes I have to physically pull it out the last little bit.

I know that they have rechargeable batteries which sometimes need attention but I assume this only effects the remote side of things - could this effect the way the fob is drawn into or ejected from the motorised gubbins?

Don't think so.

I've just tried it a few times with the emergency key removed from the fob which seems to improve things. Maybe coincidence as it generally seems to get better after a few ins/outs anyway..

Edit. It was a coincidence..

I would squirt some silicone lube in there.

It looks to me as if whatever senses you pushing the fob to release it is intermittent. But why only on one fob?

Weird, isn't it? The other fob works every time.

Are both fobs un attached to other keys?? Just wondering if it is the difference in the weight of attached keys pulling the fobs at slightly different angles and moving one of the fobs slightly away from the releasing sensor/button inside the mechanism, try them both without other attached keys maybe? Black FL2

don't want to 'fob' Sad you off but in the video you are just inserting and removing without starting the engine. I can't see any reason why one would want to do this. One pushes the key fob in- starts the engine-goes on a trip- ends the trip -pushes button to stop engine then extract the key fob. That is normal not what you are doing. you are not giving anything even half a chance to work properly and maybe damaged the fob in some way Ex 2010 Freelander2 GS-e Diesel manual Silver owner

I think the fob should go in and out ok without having to start the engine.
