don't want to 'fob' Sad you off but in the video you are just inserting and removing without starting the engine. I can't see any reason why one would want to do this. One pushes the key fob in- starts the engine-goes on a trip- ends the trip -pushes button to stop engine then extract the key fob. That is normal not what you are doing. you are not giving anything even half a chance to work properly and maybe damaged the fob in some way

I get what you're saying but it's been like this since new (to me). All I'm doing in the video is missing out starting the engine - it makes no odds to the action of this fob whether the engine has been run or not.

In any event, sometimes you may want to put the fob in and engage the ignition without starting the engine - that's not so peculiar, surely?

If you have a micrometer i would measure them both.

I'll hunt out my micrometer - the contents of my (now demolished) garage is crated up under tarp at the moment, waiting (still waiting..) for a new workshop to be built.

Are both fobs un attached to other keys?? Just wondering if it is the difference in the weight of attached keys pulling the fobs at slightly different angles and moving one of the fobs slightly away from the releasing sensor/button inside the mechanism, try them both without other attached keys maybe?

Good thought but both fobs have only an identical key ring on them. It's most odd..

Had exactly the same problem with both my MY2010 FL2 keys. I Mentioned the keys developing an intermittent sticking problem at the second service which appeared after approx' 18 months of ownership and they ordered two new keys without question.
Seem to recall there was a bulletin around that time advising that keys were changed if owners reported the problem. The replacements looked exactly the same, with no apparent change in size, but I never had the problem again. Thumbs Up

That's good to know - thanks! Next time I'm near Caffyns Lewes I'll take it in and see what they say. The car is an 'Approved Used' with LR warranty so hopefully it will be covered..

My fob had a tendency to bind after a couple of years, but my wife's did not. I figured the oil on my fingers made the buttons swell over time. So I took a razor blade and carefully shaved a 1/2 mm or so off the buttons and it didn't bind any more.

How did you get on as I am having the same problem, although at the moment I only have one key (tried to replace the battery on the other but it didn't work Sad )? My key sticks sometimes so would like to know how you got on. Thanks.

Short answer - no progress.

I did take it in to LR but I only had one fob on me - they wouldn't look at it unless I had both!

When I'm next in Lewes I'll drop it in to them again.

You didn't try the silicone lube then? I am not sure about that?

No I didn't. I'm a bit nervous of that, especially as it's still under warranty..
