The Spirit of the Forest prevents any combustion caused by naked flame for it's own protection and safety Whistle

Maybe should have lit it before we set off Sat morning.
Personally I would have preferred two of those hand warmers..............

Been in the forest this afternoon and you wouldn't know that a big event had ever taken place. Everything has gone including the litter. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Chap who Helen works with went to the stage at Chirk.
Thousands there just for a couple of km's on tarmac. He couldn't see anything as the crowd was so big and paid 25 quid to get in.
Seems we got it just right Thumbs Up Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Right folks I have been on the RallyGB website to try to get some info on the finishing positions of the cars of which you took picture of but it is not very user friendly, in fact it is Censored

Information I have managed to get is as follows.
1-Elfyn Evans (son of the very famous Gywndaf Evans) who lives not far from Pegleg finished 8th overall and first Brit home, in his first run in an M Sport Fiesta putting to shame some much more experienced drivers.
2-Second Brit Mark Higgins on his first Rally GB since 2010
3-Car 43 is Tom Cave. watch out for him in the future.

Note to photographers. Make sure you angle the pic to get the car number if you want further info or wish to try and market them.

Also for those members living up North and wanting some further rally action the Grizedale Stages Rally is on Saturday 30th November. See

Cheers,

Bill.

Apparently someone hacked the event results computer, thats why the results were delayed.

Thanks A6TDH,

I was informed of that last evening at our Wallasey MC meeting and was about to post the info but you must have been up before me.

Inciently where was the pic of your car taken, it appears to be on a rally. FL2's are very popular with a lot of the rally radio crews in the North West.

Yes the traffic build to turn off the A483 going North started on the Oswestry by pass.

Have just been on the above British Rally Forum-Marshals thread. Have a look if you want more info. Compete chaos would appear not to be an adequate description.

Wales 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Santorini Black

Extract from News North Wales

'We were overwhelmed by the number of spectators and support shown by the people of North Wales all weekend. However, clearly there were teething problems on our part as this is the first year we’ve brought the stage to North Wales and lessons will be learned for next year.”

The A5 and B5070 roads saw up to five miles of queues in the lead up to Saturday’s event, while abandoned vehicles caused chaos.

“We were surprised by the volume of spectators but we must add that anyone who bought tickets was advised to arrive early to guarantee a view point,” added Mr Coe.

“We’ll be launching a formal investigation into what went wrong in Chirk.”

Richard Jeremy, of Lodgevale Park, Chirk, described the roads around the town as ‘gridlocked’ and a ‘nightmare for local businesses’.
“It was utter chaos – the cars suddenly arrived and that was it,” he said.
“It was like a movie scene, people just sat in their cars not moving'' Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

Chirk isn't exactly massive anyway - kinda glad I didn't go to the spectator stage now.

From my experiences of watching the poor marshals cope at Dyfnant, the organisers seem to have forgotten the cardinal rule of organising any kind of event.

"Never underestimate the utter ignorance, stupidity and selfishness of the knuckledragging invertebrate simpletons that try to pass themselves off as your fellow man."

There was some really quite epic brainlessness exhibited by some of the spectators as I wandered up and down Dyfnant, causing inconvenience and delay for other spectators and clearly exasperating the marshals.

No matter how hard you plan an event, the public/visitors will ALWAYS screw it up.

Laughing

We arrived early at Dyfnant, 10am, had no problem parking and made our way as far up the route as possible, away from the more popular areas. Found a good viewing area where the spectators were thinly spread.
Didn't see any problem with spectators; only a few fools who got wringing wet through in a local stream!

It was only on the way out we saw just how many cars had parked since we arrived.
Glad we were far from the maddening crowd. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.

We got there around 10.15 (ish), my parents live just around the corner so I camped there overnight.

The main issue was with the "herd mentality" of the large number of spectators that turned up at around 12.15 - because all the "good" spots where taken at the hairpin, they just stood the live stage side of the black/yellow barricade - i.e. in front of all the people that had been there since 10.00/10.30. This caused for some heated discussion where certain individuals enquired after the dubious parentage of the offenders.....

The result was that the edge of the spectators crept further and further toward the live stage.

Finally, when the marshals managed to get them to clear off, they all then just crossed the stage and stood on the inside of the hairpin - an area designated as "out of bounds".

And because one person does it, the rest of the herd simply follow.

Soon there was a critical mass of people that got beyond the control of the marshals, so they simply gave up (although, in their defense, I'm not sure what they could have done).

I actually saw one guy completely ignore the marshal standing right in front of him, in his orange bib, yelling at him to move. He just looked straight through him - gibbering moron.
