Which DSLR

Looking at getting Nikon D3200 or Canon 100
In dark ages I used to have Pentax Spotmatic & Canon SLR but now use Sony compact
I have no lenses so 'fresh start'

Thoughts would be welcomed

entry level cameras are very similar in spec,

I would get hands on with both of them and see which feels better in your hand

Myself I went for a Nikon 3100, a less than a year later I am looking to upgrade the camera body, due to the entry level not having the focusing motor/screw built in, which means your limited to auto focusing lenses that are AF-S, or other third party lenses such as sigmas HSM. these cost a fair bit more than lenses that

If you have access to Costco, they do some good deals on start up cameras, and also people like Wex Photography Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Have you looked at mirrorless?

Hi GJH0702,

Just a thought, having used DSLRs for a while I decided to go down the mirrorless route. Specifically Olympus.
The traditionalists will wail about the smaller sensor etc but the output is excellent. You also get a smaller form factor with smaller lenses. The difference in the bulk that you carry around can be quite significant.
I guess it all comes down to budget in the end and what you want to use it for (ie if you have something specific in mind then it will be more important to investigate cameras that meet that requirement best).

Agree with Npinks. If you can push the budget to buy a camera with built in focus servo, then do so.
It can save you a lot of money in the long run. Another member of the failed FL2 clutch/DMF club, twice.
