Varying from the cheapest 'Jet' at 130.9p to rest of the main outlets at 134.9p. Independents are dearer still.

I'm up around your way in May so I'll bring some 'Jerry cans' Thumbs Up

Diesel up 11% in the last 7 days where I live. Yet at the same time they are handing out discount vouchers at approximately 6% per liter valid until end of March - where's the common sense (or indeed the marketing logic) in that.

When fuel hit 90p a litre there were road blocks and civil unrest, then it all went away. Fuel started creeping up past the point which triggered the unrest and we kept buying it. During the last crisis it hit £1.38 a litre, and we kept buying it. Why wouldn't they keep putting the price up, we have shown all we will do is moan, but we will keep buying it. I do not know what the answer is. We all rely on our cars to get to work, so they have us over a barrel, there is no alternative, public transport is being withdrawn to save money. I guess we will continue to moan and carry on buying it.

Makes you wonder if the fuel protests were politically motivated, as you say, the price has just gone up and in essence no one has moaned like they did with the last government!

UK Petrol Prices for Thursday 24th Feb 2011
Avg. / Min. / Max.
Diesel: 134.57p 129.9p 146.9p

For some reason (illogical to me) my local supermarkets (Morrisons & Asda) are at the cheapest price, with Shell and Esso at +1p and Tesco +2p on that.

Remember when Diesel was cheaper than Unleaded?? Now even the super unleaded costs less than diesel!!!

A FL2 at 12,000 miles and 30mpg will consume 400 gallons. That equates to roughly 2,400 quid.

Get a motor that does 60mpg and you instantly save 1,200 quid. Add 235 quid excise licence as opposed to a zero rated car, excessive servicing charges, a warranty that isn't that good anyway and runs out after 3 years and it's a wonder any of us drive the things, let alone crow over how good they are! In this day and age, if you want to make an instant 2k a year saving, you know what will have to go.

Sounds a lot. But a new HSE is going to cost more than twice that in depreciation alone. If you can afford that in the first place...

Anyway a car that does 60MPG will drive you to an early suicide. Better to be alive with the expensive running costs methinks. 2010 HSE Auto in Santorini Black/almond with xenons and privacy glass.

It'll never break the country, because the amount of business's there are paying to fuel cars and trucks, and passing on the travel costs to the consumer means that there isn't going to be a significant drop in usage. The government will just turn round and tell us to use public transport.

Eddie Stobart could make the prices dive single handedly. But it obviously would cost him to do it. Mine: 2012 Golf GTI Edition 35

Nah, effervescent Eddie could rapidly switch his long distance road haulage onto his existing (and thus expanding) Stobart Rail Freight Trains, which incidentally are very fuel efficient (kms/Ltr) diesel burners Class 66 locomotives, and thereby further improving his profit bottom line re tonnes per litre fuel consumed. Cost Eddie - never - he's a very smart business man.
