auto is nicer car to drive in my start stop short trip lifestyle compared to the old manual

its beter for towing
its better in off road situations (we the LRE ones were)
Its better on the Motorway trips
Its got a nice looking Gear stick
Its got semi manual box if i want to change gear
it does 100 miles less per tank than my old manual

The advantages of a manual is:
1) Good for varicose veins
2) Good for keeping at bay thrombosis
3) Ideal for overweight people who don't exercise
4) Keeps both leg muscles matched in size and strength
5) Does wonders for co-ordinating the right side of the brain
6) Helps you live longer

from a medical point of view

I agree it is easier for towing and off roading (but a pro would be able to control the manual better so its just as good off road) and gear stick is good. I think the manual is better for motorway trips, I hate the commandshift trying to make out its a manual and an auto, cheap immitation of proper manual. 100 miles less per tank

With £1500 less purchase price and savings like that, driving attributes arguments aside, thats quite a financial win for the manual.

I wouldn't sell many cars at all , too much trouble. I'd just watch the yummy mummies climbing in and out of them.

auto vs manual , Ive never driven fl2 auto but many other auto cars

auto = nice but dull, can annoy on country lanes when you want it to downshift before a slippery corner not half way round it. I like the non roll back feature. mercs have a nice simple hill hold feature on autos, stab the brake pedal down and the brakes hold on until you accelerate . thirstier more expensive but better resale

manual, good for spirited driving, can be a faf in town, better for shunting/parking


as for which is better for towing? who cars

offroading...do any of us use our fl2s in such conditions that it really makes any difference so that argument is largely irrelevant. I like clutch control when off road, but I drive 'farmer style', wrongly according to 4x4 instructors but I get around very nicely without any lack off mechanical sympathy. 1st gear on fl2's is too high to drive off road properly anyway. I end up clutching a lot but rarely riding the clutch, more a case of free-wheeling then using the power, then freewheeling as soon as speed gets too high At work
