United Kingdom 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Lago Grey

Been driving only manuals for 37 years and hired an auto for the first time in the US last year - couldn't get a manual anywhere Sad . This was so good in the stop-start traffic that when I came to buy my FL2 I was up for an auto. Test drove both, bought the manual and now offer the following observations;

Manual - smooth, quick changes when I am ready, cheaper, more economical, fine on and off road if you know what gear to be in and under what conditions, ok, so the clutch smells when reversing a trailer due to no low range and the damn green light is distracting

Auto - great if you're in heavy traffic, jerky changing up and down (did it when dealer was driving too), costs more, less economical to run
Not ready to swap to auto yet but maybe when they've perfected them Rolling with laughter
