the other day coming round a roundabout i slipped it into sport mode and floored it to get out of the way of a foreign 18 wheeler who was all over the road.

no problems with acceleration, but i then got a lot of wobble on the steering wheel when going along straight at 70mph and steady on the loud pedel

I thought i might have thrown a balancing weight, which will need to be checked out and to see if its a balancing issue which the wheels/tyre pressure etc

whats strange its not done it since on motorways or A roads or the same stretch of road

what were the weather conditions ? as a chunk of ice stuck to any one of the wheels would give this type of vibration.

A binding front brake can give wheel shudder, very often the shudder releases brake. Check pads are not seized in caliper. This usually happens when accelarating after braking.
A not so common fault is a worn inner CV joint pod, usually on high mileage vehicles or if gaiter split and lubricant lost. This usually happens when accelarating out of corner. All FL2's (3) Gone

Might had to get dirty and have a look at the brakes and joints see if anything is a miss

a nail or screw in the tyre which has now worn down flush to the tyre and not letting any air out yet freelander 2 SE black and beige - now sold

I'll check that too, though the last time, a few months ago I also heard a clicking too everytime the screw hit the Tarmac until it became fully embedded

You could try the same bit of road and the same lane, it could be the road surface

Worried it might be something to do with the gearbox or something but not had it happen again

Have you found out what the cause of the vibration is? I've noticed a slight vibration while steady cruising. The vibration is noticeable from 80 km/h and up but it's also there at lower speeds. It is definately not comiing from unbalance in the wheels/tires because I allready had the tires trimmed (make tires perfectly round) and balanced. The vibration is more like a slight tick which revs up with the speed. It does not make any difference having the car in gear or not. the "tick" seems not to be related to engine revs.

Before I had the tires trimmed it seemed to be coming from the rear RHS (this tire was slightly cupped) but now it seems to have it's origin at the front LHS. Any help would be highly appreciated because it drives me nuts. The car is a munual shifted TD4 MY07 with approx 135k (KM). I am absolutely sure this slight tick/vibration was not there before....
