I have asked a number of tuners the question about this and are yet to get a satisfactory reply. They seem to be hell bent on power!! I'd love them to be able to flatten out the torque curve... Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again... |

I took my car for its 1st MOT today at a independent garage local to work, attached to the MOT certificte was a leaflet for these guys www.viezu.com the garage is an agent of these, I thought the V-switch box on the website looks interesting, I cant see any prices without making an enquiry, thougt some of you van guys may be interested. What if there were no hypothetical situations? |

Hi, Could anyone explain what's the difference between standard TD4 and TD4_e ECU's. The ECU of TD4_e aimed at improving mpg. One part was achieved through the Start-Stop system, the other through reprogramming ECU. I'm considering to remap my TD4 ECU to improve mpg. I guess the way Land Rover tweaked their ECU would be a safer alternative to alter my current ECU. Thanks for your feedback! |

Not so sure if the ECU has been tweeked, the TD5-e had a heavier duty battery and starter motor fitted to cope with the Stop Start. |

Coming from a Honda Element that got 27mpg combined, the 18.6mpg (premium petrol) I'm currently getting in my LR2 is rather painful to say the least. |

Yes, indeed, the documentation says that the box handle 380 Nm. But this value is for the whole range of RPM and the 400 Nm figure is only on 2000 RPM. Before and after the 2000 RPM the engine torque values are way below the torque limit of the box. And economically speaking, there is no need to put a box which can handle a lot of torque when most of the car life this torque value will never (or rarely) be reached. And also because the car has a torque truncation map for first gear and reverse in order to protect the gearbox. There are two switches on the gearbox which can tell the engine ECU that you are in first gear or in reverse. These gears have the greatest demultiplication values and therefore on these gears you can damage the box if you really want to. Thus, the engine ECU will limit the torque output values when you are on these gears to protect the box. This is another problematic issue that (real) tuning companies should take into account when making a different tuning map for a specific engine. |
