Come on gents (and ladies) you have only one life enjoy it.

Personally don't see the point in exercise, but I am lead to believe that some enjoy it. Confused

My Idea of exercise - walk to car, drive to Off licence, reverse back, open bottle - and no I am not joking.

When my time comes, it comes, had a good innings so far, why worry. Very Happy
Think about all that time wasted keeping fit, you might live longer but subtract the time "wasted" exercising and I bet it comes out the same.

Take it easy on your knees - you'll miss them when they are gone. Tangiers Orange - gone, missing her

Whats the point? Dear me, this site should be named the FL2 Eventide Home. Hot Cocoa anyone? You lot should be ashamed of yourselves. you dont need to go OTT, but some exercise is good for both your mind and bodies and cut out the fags and booze and you'd be halfway there.

Let's not pull any punches, smoking and drinking is a NO, NO. It can't be justified under any circumstance.

CG, you appear to spend that much time on this site, I've come to the conclusion that you certainly don't do housework and Chickens look after themselves.

I agree smoking is a big NO, but drinking in moderation can't be that bad my great gran had a sherry every day of her life and lived to 104 Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

I know where you are coming from, but I had a Gran that smoked 20 Players Navy Cut every day and lived until she was 96. If she hadn't smoked, she'd probably still be alive today.

Alcohol is mind altering, the Opium of the masses. How many days lost at work, broken marriages? How many altracations between people, assaults, domestics, rape, sexual offences, drink drivers, not including those that only had one and were still legal, but their drink slowed their reaction by a fraction and they killed someone? Cost to the NHS? Sorry, but you cant convince me that alcohol is anything but bad. People that say that are in denial. A drinker is a latent Alcoholic. It's more addictive than Crack, more wide spread than anything else and unfortunately more accepted.

Absolutely Right Andy.
If folks wish to hang around so be it - and - if they seek to dash around all day like a manic bluebottle fly then good for them. Each to his or her own life so long as they fully accept the financial and social costs of their actions.

Being evangelistic about the sanctity of one's preferred path through life will not confute the quality of an alternative existence. Live and let live.

The vast majority of the things that you describe there are as result of excessive and normally prolonged excessive drinking.

Is alcohol bad. No. Is alcohol in excess bad? Depends on the person.

Is prolonged consumption of alcohol for extended periods bad? Without a shadow of a doubt. But then the great thing about living in a free society is that people are allowed to make their own decisions. Even if it is going to kill them in the process... Got to love Natural Selection haven't you! Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

Alcohol is a strong, addictive, mood changing drug, period. Some people can limit it, but one drink is one too many.

It's like a Cigarette smoker saying I one have one a day. Apart from disbielief your sticking to one, it's bad for you. You might not get lung cancer and you might die of something totally unrelated, but if you asbuse your body there will be some effect, no matter how small.

Exactly the same with alcohol, just because it's socially more acceptable, don't be hoodwinked and go into denial. There are a lot of people that are alcoholics that simply dont acknowledge it or think their consumption is reasonable.

Yes, I believe in a free society, but smoking or drinking effects me! No matter if it's getting a whiff of a fag from the designated smoking point going into the supermarket or smelling alcohol on someones breath or just the fact that my taxes are paying for some person to have his head stitched or even worse, his wifes head stitched.

Give me one good reason to keep alcohol? You can't can you. It isn't enhancing anyones life, it's just a drain on society.

Had the same arguement with my Doctor. She tried to defend alcohol as being okay in moderation. The conversation got cut short when I asked her about her daily consumption! Says it all.
