Blinged - what about the DAB module? Do you happen to know if that can be strapped on? Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again... |

Xtatsbox, the DABS radio add on can not easily be done. You need a radio which is capable to run DABS including the wiring as well as the DABS Control Box and then it would need configured. It's not impossible, just difficult. I've seen a few second hand DAB's units on Ebay and I've been tempted, but ultimately I am not sure I'd manage it. It's a bit like trying to add a LR Satnav system to a non Satnav car.

AFAiAA you don't actually have to disconnect the battery, although most do,,this is well documented on the D3 site

Whilst you are right it can be done with out disconnecting the power, then it's a safety precaution and I'd advise people to do it even if I considered it unnecessary. Personally, I wouldn't want to take a chance on being the one in 1,000 something happened to.

and going on how much people moan about LR satnav,, it would make more sensible just stick a tomtom in the hole where the screen would be.. |

I've seen the same thing. Your previous post, regarding wiring already there, I guess is the same for most cars, they aren't going to make a special loom for each option, so we would have to assume that the wiring is there. The issue is and I think Alex put the hardware requirements somewhere, is whether all the hardware is there. The Ariel is. According to most it is the 3 bar Ariel in the drivers side rear window. I guess also that the car would require some programming. As you say, the modules are often on ebay, just never found anyone who has fitted one. I've got a Pure Highway, I just hate the screen mounts and to be honest would prefer something more "permanent". The garage has quoted, ahem "over £ 1500.00" to do it. I read into that they could, but really couldn't be bothered. Thing is, do I want to spend £ 150.00 on a DAB module to find that it isn't going to work... Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again... |

Great tutorial! How hard is it to replace the entire steering wheel? |

I would normally agree that all the wiring is there, the looms are standard, but the LR Satnav requires some special leads to connect into the back of the video unit etc. and I know they arn't there having pulled my car apart. It's the exception to the rule.

Steering wheel, dead easy. I'll do a tutorial if I got a moment. All I'd say is to start with buy a decent tool set from Halfords or the like. I got a large Halfords Professional kit with case, lifetime warranty. It's excellent having things that work, good quality and all together. Gone are the days of spending half the days trying to find a tool you think you had or trying to adapt something. |

Sent a message to the bloke selling it. I guess that he is something to do with a breakers yard as he has a fair number of bits. I'll wait and see what he comes back with. Could try LR UK but I fear that might be p ing in a sponge... Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again... |
