After using my TomTom for many years with the free regular speed camera updates - I must now prepare myself for the FL2's lack of one (inbuilt satnav). I don't really want to keep taking my TomTom as well, so what is the best speed camera detector gadget out there which is nice and small (RoadPilot ?) ?

Road Angel Professional, expensive but with built in sim card which updates itself every few minutes and will let you know where the safety camera sites are (like others) and if it is a live one(not like others).

Id like to see some preset buttons on the dash to instantly set the cruise control to various different speed limits. maybe the sat nav could suggest a speed? At work At home "I can't always believe facts I read on the web" - Charles Dickens winner by default of the tractor vs caravan race |

Hiya UB. . . Found exactly the same problem but got chatting to a RR driver on a LR off road training day & he pointed me at the Novus Piccolo. A really small device (smaller than the LR keyfob!) it is supplied with enough power cable to discreetly wire it from the front power supply (cig lighter) & mount it under the key doc (or anywhere else around the dash tho I personally hate cabled gadgets all over the dash area). It warns of static & mobile speed units, gives you a countdown from 500m (verbal at 500m then light indicator countdown thereafter). It also has a mode that warns of driving hazards such as sharp bends etc & variable volume. A really great piece of kit with lifetime update subscription included & all for around 60 quid (Amazon) or less on ebay (I paid £40 inc del for mine). If you can find someone who has one then check it out . . . It really is worth a look

I had a Road Angel in my Forester which I no longer use. I can dig it out and let them know that it is sold. I have a feeling that the power cable may have been chopped as it was permanently wired into the car. I'll check.

I would like to have it hard-wired in really - perhaps in a bracket fixed somewhere on the dash so I could just take it out and put it in the centre armrest cubby when not in use. Just looked at the new Novus Piccolo - wonder if you could hard-wire it in ?..... |

I have the Pogo alert hard wired and mounted on the rhs dash above the side vent.Sits on its bracket and easily detaches leaving the swivel bracket on the dash.Use an interior aerial and works well even with the heated screen. 2010 HSE Galway Green auto GONE |

To be fair you probably saved yourself more money 'donating' it to your son (assuming he remembers to use it ) |

I felt the same limitation so I bought a Novus GP Rider. Works perfectly. Minimum fuss. Worth a look. |
