Speed Camera Warning Device

After using my TomTom for many years with the free regular speed camera updates - I must now prepare myself for the FL2's lack of one (inbuilt satnav). I don't really want to keep taking my TomTom as well, so what is the best speed camera detector gadget out there which is nice and small (RoadPilot ?) ?
Thanks !

Road Angel Professional, expensive but with built in sim card which updates itself every few minutes and will let you know where the safety camera sites are (like others) and if it is a live one(not like others).

I am on my second one as the first one was stolen minutes after I opened the box.

Try looking at the speedo and using cruise control (if fitted) and also obeying the speed limit in force Rolling Eyes ______________________

i have the road pilot micro go, haven't subscribed since the free bit run out though and its in my car and very rarely used as i don't like thing stuck on the windscreen

Keep on planning a retro fit of it up near the sunroof controls, but need to find a source of power, and to hide the original ciger power lead there as it didn't like using other leads (made strange noise), it would also need and external GPS antenna Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Id like to see some preset buttons on the dash to instantly set the cruise control to various different speed limits. maybe the sat nav could suggest a speed? At work

Hiya UB. . . Found exactly the same problem but got chatting to a RR driver on a LR off road training day & he pointed me at the Novus Piccolo. A really small device (smaller than the LR keyfob!) it is supplied with enough power cable to discreetly wire it from the front power supply (cig lighter) & mount it under the key doc (or anywhere else around the dash tho I personally hate cabled gadgets all over the dash area). It warns of static & mobile speed units, gives you a countdown from 500m (verbal at 500m then light indicator countdown thereafter). It also has a mode that warns of driving hazards such as sharp bends etc & variable volume. A really great piece of kit with lifetime update subscription included & all for around 60 quid (Amazon) or less on ebay (I paid £40 inc del for mine). If you can find someone who has one then check it out . . . It really is worth a look

Hope this may be of help . . .

I had a Road Angel in my Forester which I no longer use. I can dig it out and let them know that it is sold. I have a feeling that the power cable may have been chopped as it was permanently wired into the car. I'll check.

PM if you are interested. Any sensible price accepted. Hi Darling, I'll be home in 10 mins. If I'm not back, please read this message again...

I would like to have it hard-wired in really - perhaps in a bracket fixed somewhere on the dash so I could just take it out and put it in the centre armrest cubby when not in use. Just looked at the new Novus Piccolo - wonder if you could hard-wire it in ?.....

I have the Pogo alert hard wired and mounted on the rhs dash above the side vent.Sits on its bracket and easily detaches leaving the swivel bracket on the dash.Use an interior aerial and works well even with the heated screen. Thumbs Up 2010 HSE Galway Green auto GONE

To be fair you probably saved yourself more money 'donating' it to your son (assuming he remembers to use it Rolling Eyes )

I felt the same limitation so I bought a Novus GP Rider. Works perfectly. Minimum fuss. Worth a look.

I used a road angel compact which was very good.

I now use a TomTom Live which uses the Road Angel database.

If I was you I'd try and pick up a second hand one off ebay and then subscribe to the monthly updates.

I must admit I prefer a TomTom to an inbuilt sat nav as the live services are fantastic and the map updates etc which for the moment you can't get on most inbuilt units.
