I have the opportunity to purchase a set of 4 wheels from Ebay for £200. My tyres are very low on tread and its cheaper than purchasing 4 new tyres. The tyres have 6mm of tread, each.

My question is how simple is it to replace my R16 wheels with this set of R17s? Straight swap, balance, etc?

should be straight swap. you should notify your insurance. it has been said that your dealer should re-rest the dsc to account for different sized tyres.

I went from 17 to 18 with out any setting. all size wheels have the same rolling circumference At work

As CG has stated the larger the wheel the smaller the tyre

Never one to question your comments CG but if you line up a 17'' tyre/rim alongside an 18'' tyre/rim the 17'' is smaller in height by about 13mm, which will marginally affect the RR.

put weight on the tyre/wheel roll it one revolution and measure the distance, rolling circ is not directly linked to unladen wheel height. every farmer knows this due to altering pressures in tractor tyres. At work

Hense the S model NEVER came with a 17in steel, either a tempoary repair kit OR 16in Alloy

thats just LR economy . all the wheels work out to the same (similar) rolling circumstance

rim is same size but tyre wall is less tall. net result = same height At work
