Stownrow's Xenon upgrade! (Thanks to Udash)

Hello everyone!

Just Completed an xenon upgrade on the freelander thanks to Udash's guide -> http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic4194.html

I have made some slight changes as you may pick up in the pictures....

You may also notice that the lights are adaptive but obviously this part lays dormant as I do not have the wiring or the module.

What do you think?? :)

Looks good, I can see a resistor, did you fix a LED for the side light as well, that complete the look. Thumbs Up
Its a shame that you cant use the adaptive functionality, getting that to work involves too many mods. Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto

Tried the LED but failed got some in-line ones on order! Not sure why they wouldn't work but will keep you posted!

The adaptive function would have been nice but as you say it would have been a mod too far. I quite like the look of the adaptive headlights though, looks meaner?!

Once LEDs start to flash, you may need to start the engine and stop to get it reset. Once I got cought up with it and thought that the resistor fix was not working. One sure way to find out would be to attach a w5w bulb in place of the resistor (so it will light up with or without a LED bulb) and then fix a LED in to the bulb holder. This way you will know that it works and then get a resistor to drain similar wattage.

Agree, Adaptive light looks better with the nice gap around the lens. Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto

Spec of the LED light says it draws 2W, based on my tests around 1W stops flasing so they should work without any problem. Like to see the pics. Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto

For sight light I have LED with Can-Bus-System (0,6 W). No flicker, no dazzling effect and with integrated resistor.

Looks good and a neat job - just a quick couple of questions - how can you tell these are adaptive lights rather than just 'normal' xenons? Did LR make both types available on the FL2? Thanks

Hello yes land rover made both types available.

The adaptive lights are worth a lot more but you need a module and extra wires to get them to work. However, they work fine as 'normal' xenons.

The way you can tell them apart is if you look round the fish eye lens in the adaptive you can see a gap (see my pics) for the normal xenons its just mounted solid (see RoverLands pics)

Hope this helps.

Slight modification.....

I now have the two main wires which were connected to the battery in the fuse box:

All works well and is a much neater way as the wires come through the bottom of the box.

What do you think? :)

I realise this is an old thread but if you don't mind....

It would appear that the flickering should be resolved with an update to the CCF to tell the car you now have Xenons. Is this not the case? You seem to have made a lot of modifications to get the Xenons working. I'm currently looking at buying a pair of Xenon OEM headlights and was under the assumption that a quick change to the CCF was the only thing required (ignoring the auto-leveling etc).
