"HSE spec isn't worthy of the price tag when compared with others - i.e too many things are optional & at silly prices."

With respect, I am wondering why you bought the vehicle in the first place if the above comment is correct, unless of course you felt this way after the purchase.

United Kingdom 2010 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Auto Santorini Black

Just got my new XS auto after an Audi A6 Sline Auto.............. build quality is comparable thankfully. Thumbs Up

Only niggle I can find so far and this may be me not having had chance to look at the handbook yet Embarassed but........ when using the phonebook to dial someone in the phone thru the bluetooth, it appears that the only way you can see who you are dialling is by looking at centre console/radio disply... on the Audi its in the driver display and obviously dangerous to take your eyes of the road.

God I miss that armrest too ! Big Cry 2010 FL2 XS Auto in Santorini Black with HSE alloys

When going through the ordering of the vehicle etc & looking for accessories on fleabay I was getting very excited indeed & was still that way for the first 3 to 4 weeks though not now.

As for HSE being overpriced, it is only relative to all the other models really so I guess that makes them all overpriced in a way. Items are optional on all models wheras the HSE does have better seating than the others though still not worthy of the marque to be honest when you compare with the RR Sport etc.
The Alpine 14 speaker audio is superb IMO for standard fit (the best bit of the car) The sunroof is a nice touch & if it works the phone intregation system.
All in all the HSE represents reasonable value though I think there are a couple of extras that should be standard on it that would make it look better value etc. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

I have a customer with an Audi A6 Quatro Estate & a Porche Cayenne, both have virtually the same instruments, trip computer etc. I drive these 2 vehicles fairly often as he gets me to chauffeur him & yes it is a much better & more detailed system than on the Landrover. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Ev, you always seem to put your Freelander down, did someone force you to have it, you rarely have anything good to say about it or LR. I had problems with mine six weeks ago but it still puts a smile on my face everytime I get in it and if I was looking to change there is not another vehicle in the under 30k band I'd bother to look at.

Just an observation no offence intended.

I wasn't forced to buy it I bought it because it is British or as British as you can get & is still related in a way to my favourite brands & with the styling accessories available it is a transformed vehicle that in it's standard form IMO is too plain but I have 2 mechanical/fuel niggles with it that the dealers can't be bothered with, Landrover themselves are totally useless (as could be proved by a post just above this) in as much as they say if the dealers can't fault it there is nothing we can do though I don't intend leaving it there than I can asure people. HSE spec isn't worthy of the price tag when compared with others - i.e too many things are optional & at silly prices.
Driving it with the issue I have certainly does not put a smile on my face at all in fact even when they are normal the driving experience is just a drive & nothing special at all like 95% of all cars. They are a nice drive but that is all. My MGZT 260-V8 really put a huge grin & nothing I have owned since has ever done the same.

So really my irritations with the spec are reignighted by the vehicles own issues & to be honest I want rid of it if it don't get sorted. I did sugest to LR customer relations that perhaps the best solution was to park it outside the factory, set fire to it & post it on You-tube!!

You thought the MGZT V8 was good? You don't know much about cars. To get only that small amount of power from a Ford V8 is a bit of a joke, and the build quality was even worse! Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. To add I am really sad that I feel this way as anyone who knows me will say how passionate I am about my cars but I have lost all interest in the FL2 which is a real shame as I got all the dates it came off the line etc & spent out on all the styling items to personalise it.

Strangly enough I stopped at a house today fairly local where a guy was wiping over his 10 reg FL2 & I was hoping to flog him a set of the Headrest monitors but he actually works for Landrover themselves. I told him my concerns & so far he is the only person who has showed an ounce of interest though he promised me he would speak to LR customer services & relations & asked what dealer I was dealing with & assured me I would get a call today from the dealer but guess what?

I said if there is a satisfactory outcome to all of this I will sing Landrovers praises for which I was thanked but then added if the outcome was not to my satisfaction I will make the wrong type of feedback!

Some of the quality control issues etc are because of LR doing things on the cheap & penny pinching which is something that I heard a lot of in 2004/5....

Mine has been fantastic, my brother in law has now done 21000 miles in his 59 plate HSE and I can't tell any difference in build qualtity betwee his and mine. Go and price up an Audi Q5 EV to the same spec as a FL2 HSE, and you will find it comes to well over the £40k mark.

Sounds to me like you need to sell yours. Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

The build quality was no problem at all, I never had any issues with that on both my ZT models or the Rover 75Tourer.

The reason the power was restricted was because of keeping the emmisions low. The 385BHP model was being road tested but was too late in the system. Nothing to do with knowlege of cars at all.

Possibly would be but likely a better road vehicle unfortunately which pains me to say as I am a Brit car buyer. The FL2 IMO is a let down. I may change my oppinion if I get niggles sorted but not just jet. A lot of my irritation re the car however is LR customer service or rather a complete lack of & the blasted phone non intregation set up. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

for your sanity and stress levels, I think you should get rid rather than venting your sppleen here regularly, this is an 'enthusiat's' forum, fair enough if there is an issue make peopple aware, but not over and over again. I have had great service from my supplying dealer and am more than happy with them and the new motor. 2010 FL2 XS Auto in Santorini Black with HSE alloys

Lypsyl, Thank you for the first in depth reply to my posts. I wanted a RRS but couldn't afford one & in true reallity I could barely afford the FL2 which maybe in part why I am possibly expecting too much for what I consider to be a lot of money.Yes there are some trim related niggles I have but I bought it so will have to live with them but it is/was the fact that everytime I contacted LR or the dealer it was like no body was the slightest bit interested including you.I have at long last been speaking to someone that I was recomended to speak to at LR & I am fairly confident that he will change my oppinion of my car & LRs customer service. One thing I really do hate is poor or no customer service - it drives me mad, however when I recieve good or exceptional customer service I will reward that person/company by singing their praises

I just like my vehicle to be different & wanting to tailor my interior trim should be an option as I was spending my money but currently is not but should be on FL3 I imagine. Once I have my couple of niggles sorted I look forward to enjoying my FL2 especially as I have just bought another set of wheels for it Embarassed . I do like it & with the accessories looks very smart but when something annoys me whatever it is & doesn't get sorted I get angry rightly or wrongly.

Those members I believe you refer to were banned if I remember correctly.

Hopefully I can post some nice comments soon & I appreciate it is an enthusiasts forum which is why I joined in the first place & didn't go too much on the Landyzone forum as anyone on there with a Freelander was ridiculed!! (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

EV, I had a few (looking back) minor electrical issues in a very short period (parking sensors, boot catch) so I can appreciate ur frustration when nothing appears to be getting done. I was convinced I had a Lemon, it made me angry (much like urself) to think that LR had got the better of me by putting in a friday afternoon motor into me. Fact is to me spending £20 odd grand on a motor is allot of money - unfortunately I cannot earn that kinda money in 6 months and I dont think many of the other fellow members can either. In actual fact I bet as a rough guess more than 75% of the members motors on here are either under some kind of finance, pcp or personal loan even if it is for tax reasons eitherway im pretty sure most arent outright with the way lifestyle costs have spiralled.
Anyway, we're all entitle to a moan, personally I dont no of any bad dealers (I use 2 main dealers for various reasons - both are good) although I do keep hearing that LR does house some rotten ones. Only good thing is LR are having a crackdown on these rogue dealers so dont be fooled in thinking theyre not aware.
Anyway, that man will sort you out, I promise you that.
We all look forward to ur positive posts again. 2008 Td4 Freelander2 GS - santorini black.
