Ev, you always seem to put your Freelander down, did someone force you to have it, you rarely have anything good to say about it or LR. I had problems with mine six weeks ago but it still puts a smile on my face everytime I get in it and if I was looking to change there is not another vehicle in the under 30k band I'd bother to look at.

Just an observation no offence intended.

I wasn't forced to buy it I bought it because it is British or as British as you can get & is still related in a way to my favourite brands & with the styling accessories available it is a transformed vehicle that in it's standard form IMO is too plain but I have 2 mechanical/fuel niggles with it that the dealers can't be bothered with, Landrover themselves are totally useless (as could be proved by a post just above this) in as much as they say if the dealers can't fault it there is nothing we can do though I don't intend leaving it there than I can asure people. HSE spec isn't worthy of the price tag when compared with others - i.e too many things are optional & at silly prices.
Driving it with the issue I have certainly does not put a smile on my face at all in fact even when they are normal the driving experience is just a drive & nothing special at all like 95% of all cars. They are a nice drive but that is all. My MGZT 260-V8 really put a huge grin & nothing I have owned since has ever done the same.

So really my irritations with the spec are reignighted by the vehicles own issues & to be honest I want rid of it if it don't get sorted. I did sugest to LR customer relations that perhaps the best solution was to park it outside the factory, set fire to it & post it on You-tube!!

You thought the MGZT V8 was good? You don't know much about cars. To get only that small amount of power from a Ford V8 is a bit of a joke, and the build quality was even worse!

The build quality was no problem at all, I never had any issues with that on both my ZT models or the Rover 75Tourer.

The reason the power was restricted was because of keeping the emmisions low. The 385BHP model was being road tested but was too late in the system. Nothing to do with knowlege of cars at all.
Stick the superchager on the ZT260 & the filter, plenum etc & it is an M5 eater!!

Buy aq MOnaro VXR or a VXR8 in standard form and you will kill a supercharged MGZT, you won't need to hide either. Very Happy Freelander 2 HSE Lux 2013MY - Barolo Black with Ivory Leather. Alpine DVD - Privacy -Evoque 20" Dynamic Wheels and more to come.........

You won't need to hide when you drive a V8 ZT either, it is what it is + not the most powerfull V8 in the world by any means but a very rare piece of Brit motoring that gets heads turning & questions asked as what is it etc, the engine is proven & bombproof (ask a New York Taxi Driver) + future cult classic & more intresting than a Holden & probably not worth much less in used car markets given the manufacurer is technically no more! (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Have had a niggle about the fit of the tailgate since day one, left hand edge is a narrower gap than right hand edge, not sure if the rear window is cut incorrectly or whether the tailgate is not in true. Anyone else got this prob? All others I have had a nosy at in carparks seem to be spot on. Maybe it is just mine, or the dealer crashed it before delivery!

My niggles..

I've got a terrible problem with mine: every 450 miles or so, I have to fill it with more heavy oil - it's becoming quite the pain these days. There's clearly a slow leak but it only happens when I drive - there's not a spot on the driveway Wink

Okay, okay, I'm making light of this thread and I agree there are some minor problems some members have - but half the reason for us using this forum is to share our issues with others to see if we can trace a common or repeating issue (witness the reference to the "seatbelt wear" advisory someone - I forget who - posted not so long ago).
EV: I admire you for sticking with Brit. motors (well, US or Indian - both were colonised by the Brits, so they still count) and I hope you get your niggles sorted out. As I've said before, there's no such thing as a truly bad car these days - but there's plenty of dealers who are far too focused on the initial sale, rather than the long-term health of a brand and that is usually where the system starts to fail us consumers.
Personally, I've come to only LR recently; I've driven BMW's for the last ten years and find my FR2 to be of comparable build quality and I rather feel I'll be getting another LR next time around, too. Because the quality is so much better? No, not especially: because driving something that's constructed here makes me feel I'm doing something positive for the UK economy and, well, we all have to drive so I might as well have a good looking car that can brave the singular lack of investment we're putting into our road network. Oh - and I can go on the bumpy stuff on occasion too: something that low-slung Messerschmitt I had before could never do! SE on an 07 plate

I have to say I have noe mellowed with the car however the local guy from LR who promised he would look into it & get the dealer to call etc never did call back nor did I ever hear a thing from the dealer but a guy from LR who I was recomended to call by a member on here did however help Thumbs Up

I destroyed my old Nokia phone as it & the FL2 didn't mix & I have a new Nokia as recomended & they love each other Thumbs Up
Fuel consuption = The jury I think will stay out on that one as I think the claims about it are poor.

The acceleration hesitation I seem to gather is a characteristic of the car & have been sugested to change gear at over 2000 revs to allow the turbo to kick in. I have done this & sometimes it is better but not allways however strangely it seems better anyway!!

My feelings towards the vehicle have improved significantly since my chat with this guy - all I was after really was someone to explain things/characteristics etc which has only taken 4 months!! so it would appear from my issues they have been resolved though the fuel consumption I guess will be what it is!

Would I buy another? Yes if the specification improved slightly (xenons for example) No if the price goes up by silly ammounts. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

The blingy bits made me happier as I personalised my vehicle (which I guess is the idea of accessories) so I didn't have the same as everyone else which then wouldn't get noticed! If it doesn't get noticed people won't see the signwriting & if people don't see the signwriting they don't see the phone number or the website URL.

And I hate standard spec/looking cars no matter what they are.

As for the build quality of the vehicle in general which is the title of this thread, I can't say I have experienced any issues with that that I can think of at all but then I havn't owned an earlier model to tell if there is a difference! Though in keeping with history I guess there may be differences!!

The only thing that has fell apart is the keyring lol. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
