Have you got rusty nuts?

Maybe it's the weather being so nice today that made me do something very out-of-character - that is, I washed the car Exclamation
I'm really not a car-washing-kinda-guy, especially wheels, but I felt like making the effort instead of doing the car wash thing. I did notice that my locking wheel-nuts are showing signs of corrosion. I had noticed last year but since the winter (salt mainly, I imagine) they have got quite a bit worse.
I'm assuming they're not high grade stainless steel then. Does anyone know of alternatives or remedial action that might prevent this?

I have had exactly the same and they were replaced under warranty by the dealer, as I understand it is common on the earlier FL2. May be worth mentioning it to them and see what they say.

If you grease up your nuts at the start of the salty weather, they will be all nice and shiny during the sunny side. If you wash your nuts every day in winter your just asking to get them rotten away by spring. They do look crap in winter all dirty and greasy, but who cares about that Question 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
Stornoway Grey with Ebony Black Pleather, Clear Indicators, Body Side Mouldings etc.

Just trying to lighten things up after a bit of recent winter blues on the forum.
I thought about greasing up my nuts over winter but they would get a bit gritty. I think a good spring clean and some oiling up should do it. I don't think the dealer will be interested in looking at my nuts as they are too old now. I think I'll just have to get my tool out and oil my own nuts.

My locking wheel nuts are going rusty to. I have asked my dealer to change them next month. Maybe some clear varnish on the new ones would stop them rusting.

Common problem, been discussed a while ago. Opinion seems to be warranty job.

Also watch out for rust on wipers back and front. Interior misting on front screen and heated front screen not working in one or two areas.
