Side Steps

HI all, new to both the Freelander and the forum. I am looking for some advice re the fitting of side steps, especially from those who have fitted their own. Is it an easy exercise or something that the dealer should undertake? Also does the fitting of steps effect off road performance.
Thanks all
Nigel

Fitting is same as side tubes, easy aslong as you are at least a competent diy'er http://www.freel2.com/forum/topic1144.html (ad6579458 managed it, so its cant be rocket science Whistle )

as for off road stuff. the tubes/steps do reduce clearence, but also they protect your sills too, so unless your going over some serious ruts/rocks then they shouldnt be a problem. you can easily take them off but that leaves the mounting bolts sticking down under the sill Confused At work

Nigel,

Side steps aren't a problem to fit so long as you have either a Rivnut tool and have a little patience,it's also possible to do a DIY version which is just as effective. I purchased mine from fleabay £210.00 on a best offer inc delivery from

Can't comment personally on off road performance although the main reason I fitted them was to protect the sides from others when parked.

Regards

Nick

Piece of cake to fit, worse part is taking the trim off the bottom of the door as the little clips tend to break. Ive got about 3 clips holding my trim on now. Rolling Eyes
