This morning the message STEERING COLUMN LOCKED appeared in the display. What does that mean?

Sounds pretty spooky I would be tempted to get it checked, as if the steering really locked while driving could be a nasty experience.

Have now asked the service dept. They wanted to have a look at it, so I am going in on Tuesday for a check-up. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack. |

Exactly that! if there is sufficient 'backlash' on the steering to cause the locking pin to engage in one of the slots but not enough electrical force on the solenoid to release it against the metal-on-metal friction, this warning will be displayed. normally, moving the steering wheel slightly will allow it to release |

Well done Bill If only more would read it it there would be fewer such questions on the forum for us to discuss In this instance it seems the book has not been consulted first before our earlier helpful suggestions 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof. Stornoway Grey with Ebony Black Pleather, Clear Indicators, Body Side Mouldings etc. |
