The best thing LR can do is to KEEP IT SIMPLE like it is - the most expensive version should be no more expensive than a good quality mid sized saloon car. IIRC F3 is to share the same platform as the 2013 Defender replacement so things like proper 4WD and low ratios should be possible but they will add weight and complexity

Also anybody working on the line who doesn't put it together better than a BMW or Audi should be sacked............. LR expect prices higher than either maker but don't give the same quality of construction. Sorry to be harsh but I'm afraid LR's are still not that well put together

Shame to agree but the second paragraph is true though my FL2 seems very solidly built to be honest.

But I do know from Landrovers that I have valeted the casing around the rear view mirror is very flimsy and often falls apart when nudged! (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

United States 2010 LR2 i6 HSE Lux Auto Santorini Black
Potential US Buyer would like...

Here over in the USA we get one model LR2...the Auto 3.2L Petrol I6 6AT HSE with Pano & leather standard. Sheep Options and accessories are what separated one LR2 from another. Arrow

An ideal standard Yank HSE model wishlist!
1. Fold flat front passenger seat would increase utility.
2. Front passenger std power seat should adjust nicely, like the drivers side IMHO. Evil or Very Mad
3. Center storage console could really use a center storage console. Shocked
4. Rear window should split from hatch for easier trail access with luggage, pets, etc.
5. Plug in 115v outlets for a lap top or other electric device. Jeeps have these standard.
6. Loaded model available? (Lighting, Tech, Cold, Lux Pack) Virtually impossible to find here.

Options we'd kidnap Chicken George for! Mr. Green
1. Front passenger Lumbar adjustment! Idea
2. Keyless entry that would be truly...keyless!
3. Rear hatch power operation.
4. Hard Drive to store music library on.
5. Ski pass-thru!
6. Reclining rear seats! All basic Jeeps have these.
7. Rear seats that slide Fwd & Rearward independently would increase cargo flexibility.
8. 3rd row seat (even if only for the dogs).
9. e_Terrain diesel engine. (Darn EPA!)
10. Power Tilt & Telescope steering wheel. Benz GLK350 offers it.

Accessories are limited when compared to Europe, but how about...
1. A better looking & performing keyfob. Is this a Land Rover or not?
2. Lockable, secure, storage for a briefcase, purse, laptop, etc. Volvo does it.
3. More choices in the smaller wheel combinations. 19in as standard seems large for mpg's
4. LR2 G4 Kit? Package? We get none of it now! Thud

Love the vehicle. Would like more to differentiate it from the one next to it. Thumbs Up

Kidnap him first and we'll see what we can do with the FL2. Whistle Don't put petrol in a diesel. They don't run well.

Exclamation Historically Americans are not very accomplished in the craft of kidnapping, whereas others have demonstrated that they are very skilled at kidnapping Americans. So we can happily assume that CG will be with us for quiet some time - bless him.

If LR would like to get Freel2 members opinions on a more official basis I'd be more than willing to help! Thumbs Up

That is a good idea as it is us who drives them & can give the best feedback rather than pen pushers or shareholders or in fact companies like BMW & Ford who only want to rape the product for it's technology & still can't work it out after they sold the company. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Maybe it is a good idea, but unless suitably supervised, the list is likely to be too long and include too many non serious wishes which has been demonstrated the last few days on this thread.

What we need is a non bias forum member to coordinate all the options suggested and create a voting list where forum members can vote on say 10 options. The 10 most popular could then be submitted to LR via Martin.

As non UK owners often have other requirements than UK owners, it would be appropriate to include a relative number of these in the final list.

This is all beginning to remind me of a Simpsons episode when Homer was given carte blanche to design an all-new car.

You are quite right in that. I would sugest a member from a very cold enviroment - say Finland & a member where it can get very hot - Australia or New Zealand.

From here members who like good trim levels etc - like myself & members with more technical requirements are obviously required as well.

I get in and out & play around with many marques of car/4x4 etc so do have some idea of what LR should be doing to keep up in the spec area without going OTT as you can't expect everything on a Freelander otherwise what would be the point of the Discovery & Range Rover models.
I think in general the spec of the Freelander is good but there are a few tweaks really & not that major tweaks to give it the status that it sells for! (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

Would be good if they did though.
I know they couldn't do all of the requests, but some of they ideas could be relatively cheaply introduced and could then effect product sales. Don't put petrol in a diesel. They don't run well.
