I think freelanders were designed around the caravan enthusiast.
Surely thats the only thing anyone would want one for.

I know thats what the chicken man bought his for.  Don't put petrol in a diesel. They don't run well.

You are absolutely right in your statement but don't worry the one you are alluding to has many problems currently, vote rigging, and impersonating being two of them.  Ralph

Had a Series 1 for many years then went to Joe Public cars, then back to L/R Freelander 1.
Done 120.000 miles and thinking of migrating to Mark 2 but need advice.

Well, it is GOOD NEWS !! After a trip to a few dealers and getting a few quotes, and went to LPR on the Saturday. Met up with Matthew and James and after a test drive, we sat down to talk about the numbers.
James was able to match the offer we had from another dealer and better it by a bit. But at the end of the day, it all came down to who we dealt with and the overall experience we had with the dealers.
We definitely cannot complain about the service and assistance we received from Matthew and James and even though we may have gotten a few quid less on an online deal, I think the overall satisfaction we got by dealing with LPR made the deal worth while.
I would just like to say a great big thank you to both James and Matthew from LPR for the help and advice on the purchase of my new car.
We both cannot fault your service so far and we keenly await our FL2 which hopefully will be delivered by the end of Jan (fingers crossed).

We have now paid the initial deposit and cannot wait to get the car FL2 delivered.

P.S. We did get a tour round the workshop which was for swmbo but really well worth it for me.

Orange indicators are less popular than caravans. Oh, and most forum members hate black FL2's with iffy alloys  2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

I've spent a good few hours looking through the forum so thought it was time to join and say hello. We've finally decided to buy FL2 and I think I'm more excited about this than any car I've ever got! Me and Mrs aren't new to Land Rover - currently have FL1 5 door, GS, Bonatti, with manual 'box, which is a great car really and we've had all sorts of fun in over the last 4 years, and my old SWB Series III (which Mrs is less inclined to drive). It's safe to say I'm a fan...

For the last 2 years we've hired FL2 for our annual tour of the highlands, clocking up something like 1300 miles, so after this extended test drive in all weathers, including pretty deep snow, I was confident it was the right car for us. (I used an excellent and very good value hire company out of Inverness Airport who I would recommend). We've also used one for an LRE day and I've got no concerns about the off road ability. In many ways I'd say FL2 is equally as capable as my ex-military truck with a low 'box - only easier to drive. And quieter, more comfortable, dry, warm.... But it's still a whole lot of money and I've been concerned that I made the right decision - and thats what bought me to the forum in the first place.

So, first week of March we take delivery of a Stornoway XS Auto. It could soo easily have been a Lago GS manual, or a Santorini HSE, but this was the best fit for us I think. But I've now decided to stop worrying about whether or not I've made the right choice, paid the right price or got it from the right dealer (almost certainly I haven't to at least one of those!) and just enjoy the excitement of our new car.

Hello all! Be kind to the Yank that lost his way and ended up here. We looked at everything under the sun (Q5, GLK, Jeeps, etc.) and have settled on getting the LR2. Been lurking for a bit, laughing at Chicken George and his very funny sarcasm.

Initially we were leaning toward others, but spent some time in an LR2 loaner. Needless to say we were impressed. It exceeded our expectations across the board. Especially with its on road performance, road trip mpg, and City dwelling capability.

So, please put up with some silly questions...these are just not that common here! And the dealer is great, but will not touch anything related to simple modifications (even with OEM parts!). Fortunately there are some excellent local independent Land Rover shops we will place our trust in.
