Cheapest new Freelander 2 buys

Might be an idea to put together some of the dealerships with ther best buys to help existing members and those wanting to upgrade to a Freelander 2.

Carquake, Broadspeed, Buyacar, Jamjar, Drivethedeal all offer new car discounts. Some take part exchanges, others don't. Some even put you in touch with a LR dealer to supply at a price. The discounts are typically 12% on list price. There are pros and cons on buying a car this way, in particular watch out for the firms that hold onto the log book.

As for local LR dealers, I feel a lot could match these firms, but it's impossible to discover who exactly unless you phone them up and ask, so how about people noting their deals and maybe others can benefit?

That said, if your a NFU member, I believe there is a 5% discount available on top of everything else.

Come on, times are hard, so lets put on our collective thinking hats.

United Kingdom 2015 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Santorini Black

I really did haggle with my dealer & they did me a good deal possibly because I had bought a FL1 in 2001 & had a few niggles then traded it in for the Rover 75 top of the range Tourer but they did say they rarely give discount, anyway I got 9% off list price. One dealer did offer me 10% but I suspect the customer service may not have been so good. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.
(Past) RR Evoque Dynamic Lux Si4 In Firenze Red.
(Past) RR Evouque Pure Tech in Barollo Black with bespoke Firenze Red colour coding.
(Present) Freelander Metropolis 2015 MY In Santorini Black with Ivory Premium Leather.

This would be really useful (especially as I for one am currently shopping around).

I went to Stratstones at Edinburgh for the FL2 just about a year and a half ago. They were RRP.I recently phoned them up twice to give me a quote for new, trading in my 'old' FL2, however despite promises, no call backs received.

I did phone up LR at Bradford a year ago. They were cheap for a Discovery. 7k off list, eventually purchased it from elsewhere when they priced matched. That was when LR were in dire straights. Sounds like a good name for a pop group!

That said, an up to date list of bargain LR dealers would be handy. If they read this, feel free to say how much discount you'll give, accepting most of us trade in, so we'd want book value, not a manipulation of the figures.

Yes, I did try them and whilst they were very hehlpful, they were not the best priced at that time, might have changed since. I know that matters to a lot of people, but then so does price, especially if all you are going to do is buy the car there and have it serviced elcewhere.

Darrellr - which dealer gave you the discount? sounds very good.

Charliefoxtrot999 - you seem to have got a good deal too. What would you estimate in terms of percentage?

I think the key to this is finding out which LR dealer is prepared to cut his profit margins to the bone. At the moment, it's almost like the art of black magic and few of them are prepared to advertise what their bottom line is or go into detail. except if you visit them personally. Their mentality is, someone soft comes in thro' the doors, we will nail them to the floor and tell them they are getting a good deal and they will be happy. Someone else comes in who haggles, well we will give them more off. After all, the soft guy is making up the loss. I know there is an arguement about what time of the month or quarter to approach them, but at least it give us a start and we need that to get the best deal. Personally, if a salesman aint going to Florida this year because his comission is low, I for one couldn't care less. It's our money and it is our hard work that got it.

When I got my local dealer to price match. I had no intention of buying, just went in on the off chance of seeing what sort of vehicle I was going to be getting. The salesman and sales manager then spent an hour with me haggling. Thing was I had a particular new car in mind with specific extras for which Bradford had quoted me. What surprised me was the local dealership had the ability to see what stock Bradford had or could get nationally and confirmed the vehicle existed before offering me a price match, so beware if you go down that road, they will find you out if you are prone to making things up.

My one had been provisionally reserved by a LR dealer in Colwyn Bay, Wales. LR Bradford quoted me on it and my local LR dealer could see they had checked it, but after I agreed to the sale, the vehicle was confirmed reserved on line by my local dealer and punted up north.

The dealer I used told me recently no discounts as there is no stock & cars are built to order. (Past) Freelander 2 HSE 2010 MY In Rimini Red.

What happened to all the rows upon rows of FL2 stacked up in a massive car park that we saw on the news last year? I wouldn't think they managed to sell them all. If it's a special order with unusual extras, I can see it, but not so for a standard car. Even so, there is a dealer margin that can be toyed with.
