Then you should either go to another LR dealer mentioning your unsatisfied feelings about the difficult dealer you have today. Alternativly get in touch with the Land Rover importer for Russia and explain the situation to them. This is what I have had to do earlier (when I owned a BMW) and this worked very well. The dealer in my case could'nt do enough to help afterwards Thumbs Up 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

LAR - Everyone
Idea The best way regarding any problem with the local official LR Dealer Support/Service is to go your own country's LR Distributor/Importer; and if that fails, take it up direct with Land Rover Customer Support in the UK. All contact points (telephone-email-postal addresses) are on the web.

Remember to keep a diary/documentation of dates/times/people/communication method used as this will be valuable evidence in support of your predicament and request for compensation.

Finally, if you get absolutely nowhere at all - telephone direct the Land Rover Regional Marketing Manager for your geographic area (not the country manager - they are the junior partner). He/she can (and will) kick a peoples' backsides hard Thumbs Up Their names and 'phone numbers are in the public domain. This is to be used only as a last resort - they will not be interested if you have not exhausted all the local and country channels first. Remember to be polite -and - they will want names, dates and hard substantiated facts Exclamation

Norway 2008 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Caspian Blue

This is really not much of a problem here in Norway, allthough we got freezing temperatures in the winter.
Only minus 8 degrees Celcius today though, so it is not so bad.

Anyway, if it happens, the trick is to poor a bucket of very hot water over the door and the lock, wait a little bit, and then the lock opens. THEN poor some antifreeze-oil into the lock to prevent it from happening again.

To smear silicone on all the rubber in all doors before the winter, poor antifreeze-oil in all locks BEFORE the winter, should keep you out of trouble. Well, I have never done that, and have never had any problems, but on cheap cars it does help. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack.

Lar
Tell your friends on the Russian site that I do not wish to be unhelpful but:
a) I'm not a "shtrafniki" or a "iazyki" - my role is that of your Kamenev; a strategist not secretary.
b) And that they will find them easily enough using their undoubted intellect and the internet.

Good Hunting

LAR
Firstly thank you for the correction of my poor Russian - appreciated. It has been many years since my illicit wanderings across the Urals.

I knew that you yourself did not seek to use me in those roles - my comments were directed at those who used you as an internecine intermediary.

Have a grand day.

Contra to Vikings advice - DO NOT poor hot water over frozen locks in freezing temperatures - the lock will refreeze sooner than you can antifreeze it and you may not be able to close the door or boot lid afterwards - this is from personal silly experiance Embarassed

The best is prevention is by using Vikings other advise and do not wash your car in very cold temperatures particularly if the temperatures are likely to drop overnight and if you don’t have the possibility to dry it out overnight in a heated garage Thumbs Up 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Well, I have tried it myself on another car I had years ago. And it worked fine. Open the door before it refreezes.
Make sure to dry out all wet spots with a towel. Pour antifreeze-oil immediately in the lock.

But best of all is to make sure you never need to do these things, using silicone and antifreeze BEFORE it gets cold. 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack.

Maybe a hairdryer or fan heater (with an insulated cable for safety) held close to the frozen lock would be a better solution.

Water does freeze quickly in minus temperatures Viking Laughing and although I have also loosened a frozen lock a few times with hot water without problems, I have also experienced the opposite Shocked My passenger had to hold his door closed on the drive home as the mechanism had frozen so the door would not stay closed Laughing

The problem can be compared with having a leak in minus 30 - you know what happens then I guess Rolling with laughter 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.
