A hairdryer does not create enough heath, unless you are willing to stand there for hours.
I agree water will freeze, but before it freezes, it will open the door. And when the door is open, you can get in, start the engine to heat up the car.

I agree water should be avoided in freezing temperatures, -but when it is the only solution......... 2008 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Automatic, Caspian Blue, Alpaca, Moon roof, Exclusive pack.

Quote from last post: My passenger had to hold his door closed on the drive home as the mechanism had frozen so the door would not stay closed Whistle 2007 Freelander 2 HSE TD4 Manual with Premium Pack & Moonroof.

Finally today my dealer has changed the frozen tailgates button. It has needed only 2,5 months. I have a trunck again!
I set eyes on another cars handles for tailgates opening in a showroom. All new Freelanders have only gray handles without reference to a cars color. I was surprised. Does LR economize?

Sorry for my wry English. I began to study it recently.

Out of interest, those of you that have this problem, do you have your car cleaned or clean it yourselves with a high pressure hose or jet washer.

I know from the electrical industry just how this causes problems and due to the water thats got in then not being under pressure it can stay in there for weeks. It would only have to be a tiny amount aswell.

I've watched the lads cleaning cars at these hand wash stations and they are just like the production personnel at work. They aim them directly at the seals and then I know when the plant next starts up motors and switches are going to be shorting out everywhere.

Most seals are only rated to IP54 which is suitable for rain or splashing not for jets.

its the fault of the poor seal on top of the tailgate handle, it lets rain in , pressure washing will however speed the ingress of water up At work
