Just saying hello and introducing myself - a 50 something Land Rover fanatic !

Well after nearly 5 years we have decided to replace or F1 HSE. This will be our third Freelander in 10 years - all bought new ! This last one has now done 93,000 miles and performed really well, Doing the local run arounds, school run and 3 or 4 round trips a year to France, where we run a ski chalet. Good old girl has even pulled many a vehicle out off snow drifts, been up the mountain and even pulled a 6m car trailer back to the UK with our F1 commercial on it - I'm a Yorkshire man - and was not going to spend money on all that fuel driving a second vehicle home !! Just hope the F2 will be as good !

New F2 bought from Farnells Guisley - 2010 MY HSE - manual td4_e in Stornaway Grey, + rubber mats, roof rails and bars, ski carrier, side steps, and tow bar. Collecting it this week then driving down to Chatel in the France Alps on Saturday with my eldest daughter

Got to sort out the boot for the 2 labs in the new year. What about mud flaps are they worth it? - had them on the F1 but you don't see many F2's with then on ?

Thinking about the rear entertainment system (keep the kids happy) as these seem to be for sale self fit for £200 - £250 - some traders seen to be just that "traders" and some are main dealers - any views on who to go to - gut feeling says pay a bit extra and go main dealer route - any suggestions on a min dealers doing the deals ?

What are you doing for the snowchains? going with chains or those socks as the last thing you'll want is the police to give the no chains no drive up the hill speach

I bought a pair of chains for the last but one F1 - never used them or been asked o produce them ! I even pulled a Toyota Primera up an ice up dirt track with out them ! I'll buy if required - IMO those snow socks are a waste of time. What I'll probably do is buy a set of wheels of ebay and fit them with snow tyres - it seems as though that's what the locals do, which I'll keep out there. However those Put & Go jobs local the donkeys ! - chains are such a pain to fit !! Cheers

Hello!

Er... what to say now... oh yeah! Just bought an HSE Auto in Santorini black, picking it up this afternoon. Already ordered some side protection tubes, so they'll be going on as soon as they arrive and then I'll be taking her off road. Well, maybe in January in Kielder, I should really look into getting some insurance with off road cover, which ends at the end of January - so if anyone knows of some one off cover I could use for Kielder, be much appreciated!

Anyhoo, thank you for a good site, I used a lot of the info here to make my decision on buying

Just purchased a Freelander 2 from Matfords in Exeter. Pick it up next week. Figures crossed that all will be well for some time to come.
