2009 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Zermatt Silver

There's an excellent guide from Chris8of9 which I used. Didn't need to remove back of seat but I have small hands and with a bit of patience, I could reach up and pull the connector down. Allow 3 hours for complete install.

Didn't see the guide - will look now to see if I missed anything.

It took me 4.5 hours from start to finish - the main problem being the time taken to get the centre console over the handbrake.

The downside is I now need a replacement handbrake 'gator' (??) as I've Censored this one.

I managed to pull the cables through as well - not easy but possible if you really stretch. New: Freelander2 GS 62 plate (MY13) - Santorini Black with Clearview & Front PDC
Old: Freelander2 XS 09 Plate - Zermatt Silver with ST3 remap (eco map), Garmin 1490T Sat Nav, Rear Seat Entertainment kit

I'm confused (easily done Laughing ) but I thought you were waiting for it, or did it arrive this morning?

kblr2 is probably referring to the US kit, as this is different to UK one. Phil

Does anyone know how to remove the Automatic gear lever to enable the centre console to be removed.

Thanks

The gear lever stays one, but you have to reach up under neath and pop out the four corner of the base of teh lever from the trim ring. Once the four corners are out then then simple unplug the wire going into the traction control switch adj that shift lever and it lifts around it.

Short: lever stays on, just remove trim ring from undrneath and walla!

A big thank you to Chris 8 of 9 for the install guide, it made a big difference, only real problem I had was my landy is an auto, and could not work out how to remove gear selector, and did not want to force it, so removed the centre gaitor from surround to remove console. As Chris pointed out, LR do not say you have to disconect the hand brake cable, but this was more prefferable to dismantling the front dash area. I found though that I needed 7mm and 8mm sockets.
Screens now working, only tried one DVD and it plays black and white, has anyone any idea why?? have I done something wrong, have I connected a wrong cable somewhere? All help will be greatly received.
Thanks in advance.
Cheers

The rear screens can accept PAL or NTSC input, so I would suggest the problem lies in your DVD player. Your DVD disk is likely NTSC and the player is outputting it as PAL, or vice versa. Phil

Check your DVD player, does it auto detect the colour system? do you manually need to switch it? is your disk region 1 and your DVD player a UK based one? Phil

Hi Phil,
all my discs are region 2 and I have been using a portable dvd player, and that screen plays the discs in colour without any problems, but when plugged into the car, the screens play black and white, while the screen on the player plays colour.
Thanks
Colin

Sounds like you need to isolate the problem. Try a new source or connect your dvd player to your tv and see if the same issue remains.
I know the lr screens will auto switch between ntsc and pal as I've tried it before. Phil

Hi
I finally took the plunge and bought one off Ebay and recieved today (Ebony cloth version). I have come to the conclusion that I will not have the time to fit myself so I am asking for recommendations or suggestions for fitters in and around Bury lancashire area and approx cost of fitting.
Many Thanks

I've fitted quite a few of these to FL2 and D3's - BTW, Yeovil LR are selling them at £180, except the black cloth which are £230 - no reason other than LR have historically sold some of these so therefore have greater value Rolling Eyes and therefore greater cost to dealers
A standard fit to a FL2 starts at £120, actual cost depends on round-trip fuel costs from Derby to your location
