United Kingdom 2013 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Firenze Red
FREELANDER 2 REAR HEADREST SCREEN ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEM

Expect a few have noticed that various LR dealers are bashing out genuine Land Rover FL2 LCD headrest system kits at prices ranging from £250 -350. Considering that I toyed with having them fitted upon purchase of my FL2, then listed at over £1200 for the pair, I wonder what is now afoot.
Does anyone know as much as the dealers as to why they are being dumped now on Ebay at this supposedly low price? Informed comment would be appreciated. Firenze Red XS TD4 01/2013 . Averaging 1800 miles per month. My 5th Freelander in 11 years. Devotee?

seen them myself Thumbs Up

I think the dealers are getting rid of excess stock as no boby in there right mind would pay £1200 to a dealer for just 2 screens and no DVD player

I think one of them is set in a cloth head rest too, so check what your buying if you are Former Mod/Member, with the most post & Chicken George Arch nemesis

Excess stock. In the current economic climate, if stock is not selling...

Mine came from a dealer and works fine but it was a few months back when only a couple were being sold.

Tony, did you fit it yourself? Phil

If you look on ebay the dealers are cheaply selling excess stocks of all accesories like wood/aluminium facia kits, wheels, side protection bars/step and sports styling kits-some are still a bit greedier than others though you will notice!!!

All is well.kit no 3 fitted and working.kit took about an hour to fit and cut ony one finger inside the drivers seat routing the cable!!!
Yes Phil fitted kit myself,I work for ford at the moment but have had many years at the local landy dealer, eventualy running their workshop, then ran of to Hyundai for more cash, now back on the spanners at a ford dealer, more cash!!!!

I am using an Ipod Classic for movies, and audio from 3.5mm jack socket lets us all listen to the films!!! so dont have to use the headphones unless want to listen to something else!!

Can only summise that it was bad luck on the first 2 kits, they have been on the shelf for at least 2 years!!

all the best

Tony.xx Thumbs Up

United States 2008 LR2 i6 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

I purchased the Factory LR2 video kit a few weeks ago off EBAY, from an LR dealer at a significant discount. I am actually very pleased with the setup, including the lack of a DVD player. Another feature of this kit is that it will play video from a 2gb or smaller SD card, so you can put a movie or two on there and not have to plug in anything. Also, if a portable blue ray, or some other format becomes popular, I'm not tied to DVD technology.

As to the original question, the Lr dealer was just liquidating stock that he had held because no one would pay $1400 US for two video screens. $500-700US buyers appear (including me)

Also, I can confirm that you do not need to have the rear audio controls for the system to work (as shown in the instructions) everything works off the remote. Razz

2009 Freelander 2 TD4 XS Manual Zermatt Silver

Anyone any idea what 'material' my headrests are? I've got an MY09 XS and on the docs it says "SCUBA/Ebony cloth leather"

They look sort of dark blue to me and I'd say 'leather-ish'!

Are they Ebony Leather or 'Cloth'?

The accessory catologue says:

Alpaca Leather LR004180
Ebony Leather LR004184 - available on ebay
Tundra Leather LR004196
Ebony Cloth LR004173 - not available
Reef Cloth LR004166
Tundra Cloth LR004175 New: Freelander2 GS 62 plate (MY13) - Santorini Black with Clearview & Front PDC
Old: Freelander2 XS 09 Plate - Zermatt Silver with ST3 remap (eco map), Garmin 1490T Sat Nav, Rear Seat Entertainment kit

Scotland 2007 Freelander 2 TD4 HSE Auto Stornoway Grey

Bought one of these last week on ebay and the instructions seem very simple. In practice i found that i had to take the seat upholstery off the backrest of the seat to fit the screens properly Evil or Very Mad . This was not easy but also not impossible, just a bit of swearing and sore fingers. has anyone else found they had to do this.

I'll let you know when I get mine.

What source are you using to play video from? How are they powered? I'm worried I'm going to loose the rear 12V on the centre console. New: Freelander2 GS 62 plate (MY13) - Santorini Black with Clearview & Front PDC

There's an excellent guide from Chris8of9 which I used. Didn't need to remove back of seat but I have small hands and with a bit of patience, I could reach up and pull the connector down. Allow 3 hours for complete install.

It takes standard AV inputs, so you need something that will output a composite video signal and L/R audio. I'm using an Ipod Touch, although I did consider PSP and Archos too. You don't lose the 12V socket, the screens are powered directly from the same source as the 12V socket as you'll see when you take the centre console apart. Phil

I think these must be different kits. There is no SD card function, just AV inputs and no remote control (unless you are refering to the IR headphones? New: Freelander2 GS 62 plate (MY13) - Santorini Black with Clearview & Front PDC
