New Member problem with Air Con?

Have been logging in as a guest for some time now and gained some useful info as a result, so decided to register as i seem to have a problem with my air con and wondered if anyone else had experiencd the same?
On two occasions in recent hot weather what appears to be steam or vapour (no smell) has started to blow out of the air vents, about 15 -30 mins after start of journey on each occasion. Second time I called land rover assistance who sent the AA, they thought it was just condensation or damp and that i should take to dealer if it happens again.

watching a program last night when somebody let of a airhorn which gassed out the end.

I presume this was due to the cold pressurised air been released into humid conditions on the boat

Maybe they are right saying its condensation due to cold air been released into a hot humid cabin.

I agree that it is probably condensation caused by the dry air con air (relatively) hitting the humid atmosphere. I lived in St. Louis for a couple of years and having the car filled with water vapour when starting the motor was quite common during the summer. Mind you the temperature was 90 plus and humidity at 95%.
If it doesn't smell and disappears quickly I wouldn't worry about it though CG may have a point with the air con drip tray blocked. Ralph

Thanks for your replies. Happened again on the way home today when external temp was 20 degrees C, so warm but not that hot. Think I will call dealer and ask them to check it.

maybe aircon is cutting out for brief periods, turn your air con off on a warmish day and your windows soon steam up At work

An update, booked the car into dealers last week, they detected slight trace of gas so had to book in again this week for two days for investigation. They thought it was a leaking matrix? but when they changed and tested it the seals just blew out. They now think its a faulty compressor which is on back order, so the saga goes on.

An update, aircon compressor has now been changed and system appears to be working ok. No vapour so far, so fingers crossed they have sorted the problem.

Horrible smell

Switched the air con on for the first time this year at the weekend and both my wife and I were almost overcome by the smell, switched off air con and opened the windows and the smell dispersed. Tried it agin the next day and same thing happened (Almost lost my voice as a result). Car was going into dealer today for B pillar trim replacement, so got them to check it. They could not find anything wrong, but have used a conditioner spray in an attempt to get rid of the smell. Drove home and to my mind they have just replaced a horrible smell with an unpleasant one. Has anyone else had this sort of problem?

Had my car in for its 2 year service today and I also told them about a smell coming from the Aircon. It smells like the aircon gas is leaking. They checked it and found no problem but flushed it with some 'cleanser'. On the way home the smell was fresh (minty?!) and then I noticed that the dials were set to their coldest, after changing them to 18/19 I got a strong smell in the cabin ( like smelly feet!!) but it cleared after 5 miles or so...will have to keep an eye on it.

So..in answer to your question...yes I've had the problem....and No I dont know what it is !!!! Confused Laughing

Been out for a drive today and no smells!.... The system flush cost 9.99 at Dealers and seems to have done the trick.

As a side issue I keep my Climate control on all the time ..... anybody got any info on whether this is good or bad? (apart from MPG issues)
