My car had always driven perfectly though, no hesitation or shudder of any sort until recently. Maybe it's just a coincidence that it appeared around the same time as my EGR problem?
I'll give it a gearbox flush and a couple of shots of Dr Tranny next weekend and see how it goes from there.

Hi Bob,
As I said 7/1/25…..’ Expensive start to New Year’ …….!
Could it be anything to do with your Haldex problem, just before your EGR problem….? Reading articles above that Ian posted……very interesting…..thé Volvo article….strange they couldn’t understand why Aisin BW didn’t fit à filter…..I would say à drain plug as well………they suggested servicing costs….true I guess.
Also the possibility of oil contamination with glycol…..via the cooler…….damaging the torque-converter
Gets you thinking…..!
Good posts on forum that Ian highlighted……..I don’t know how he remembers the links……or are they stored… ?
Hopefully the gearbox flush & Dr Tranny gives an improvement…….
Surprised you Indy garage couldn’t trace the source of problem a bit better than ‘ suck-it & see’
Good luck….Pete FL2 SD4 HSE Lux Auto MY 2012— current

New front discs and pads today.
Gave the calipers a spruce up while I was at it.
The old discs took some persuasion to come off, serious blows with a sledgehammer eventually shifted them.

I used Allied Nippon discs and pads. My local motor factor swears by them. They are apparently OEM quality. I've used them before with no issues. They have some sort of coating on them preventing the bell going rusty.

Funny you mention the gearbox. I've literally just come in from the garage after changing the oil Gibbons method using about 8 litres of new Smith and Allan 3324 atf. Not driven it since, will take it out for a run in the morning to see how it feels, heat it up and check the level.
I have a couple of tubes of Dr Tranny on stand by if its still juddering. I'll report back tomorrow...... Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Well this morning I took the car for a drive, the issue was certainly much reduced with the new atf, although having been doing 10000 mile drop and refills the oil coming out was not the dirtiest I've ever seen. Still some shuddering evident. Did about 4 miles until the temperature gauge was up to the normal mid point. I then came back, got it up on ramps and fairly level, added 1 tube of Dr Tranny and 500 ml of extra atf and started it up, removed the level plug and shifted it through all the gears. Let it run until oil stopped coming out and replaced the plug. Took it for an extended drive this afternoon along some quiet hilly back roads and delighted to report it's back to it's usual smooth running and barely noticeable gear changes.
I don't know whether I should consider this a fix or a bodge? Time will tell but it's a much nicer car to drive than over the last few weeks.
I have another 2 tubes of Dr Tranny, I've read some people needing to use 2 but will see how I get on in it's current state. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Thanks for update and great that the shuddering has gone. What do you think maybe be causing the problem in the gearbox? How many miles has it done? FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

131000.
Maybe torque convertor getting tired?
I'd understand if the gearbox oil had never been changed but I do keep on top of the maintenance.
I suppose it has done a fair bit of towing though. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

Yes towing is likely to be a factor. Hope Dr Tranny provides a good life extension. FL2 SD4 XS 2013 Orkney Grey

And while this was all being resolved I'd had a battery issue. Going out to work a week or so back all I got was a click when I pressed the starter button. Only 12.2v when tested.
Alternator working fine and putting out a healthy 14v.
I still had the original battery I'd replaced about 4 years ago and kept trickle charging it, useful for testing electrical items. It was showing 12.6v. Swapped batteries and it started fine.
The Varta F17 replacement was definitely less than 5 years old so quite disappointing, naturally I couldn't find the receipt or I'd be checking how long a warranty it should have. Tried charging it but it was only showing 12.4v even after charging so clearly goosed.
All good until last Friday and after doing the brakes and gearbox oil and again it wouldn't start. Old battery clearly not up to the job. A trickle charge had it running again.
I managed to find a suitable replacement Yuasa 85AH battery at Halfords with a good 20% discount using my trade card, £84.23, all in, cheaper than Tayna (or Tanya!) could do it for.
It does have a full 5 year warranty so I've carefully filed the receipt in the car handbook pack. It's currently in the boot waiting till I get 10 minutes to fit it.
Hoping that's the expenditure over now for a few months at least 🤞
