I replied to a post about headlights a few weeks ago but then realised I should have said hello first.

Located just south of Gatwick Airport, always wanted a 4x4 to knock about in but went down the road of buying a new vehicle from my old Zafira Mk1 (that I loved) just to find the great world reset changed my work pattern to not needing a car that much any more. The new car PCP was up in the summer so I sold it to the dancing calculator people and with the tidy profit bought myself a 2010 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE after copious amounts of YouTube research (as you do!).

I love it. Probably paid a little towards the top end but they seldom come up on AT and the one I found checked out in all the right places, came with enough warranty to allow me to get it fully inspected and reject if needed. I have ended up spending a bit on a full service, rear shocks and some other small items but my local independent garage specialises in 4x4s and are brutally honest. They said it was a very good example which was reassuring. Just sorting out the headlights to get the xenons focussed correctly in their housing to maximise their output (I have experience with discharge lighting in the entertainments industry).

There's a few more improvements to apply that seem to be a standard approach from what I read and see here and elsewhere. Given I only do a few thousand miles each year I can continue to enjoy the driving experience which makes me smile every time I go out for a run.

Had my FL2 for 2 months now, had a face-lift Freelander 1 which met rather heavily with a Corsa.

So far, love the car, not seen many HSE TD4.e's in manual, but insaying that my partner has just bought one also.

You seem to have chosen a good spec for your car, be aware that you need to study adverts of FL2s offered as original owners had lots of scope to upgrade factory fitted items to base specs. My original XS had lots of bits (and looked like) my later Metro.
I think that the SD4 Auto is a must to get the true go anywhere feel, and if not going into serious deep mud then you just need a good set of quality All-Weather SUV Road Tyres. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Just to say hello as I’m a new member.
I’ve recently bought my second FL2, after 6 years trouble free motoring with my first.
Worryingly, my daughter loves my new FL as much as I do, so I might be looking out for number 3 sooner than I intended 🤣.
