Spain 2011 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Lago Grey
Clutch Pedal Stays Halfway Then Pops back.

Hi guys! This is my first post and I'm hoping somebody can shed some light on my little problem
I own a FL2 SE 2011 Manual
.
I recently had the clutch changed and the master cylinder too and the sensors on the clutch pedal too.

Yesterday I drove a couple of hours on the motorway and when I reached my destination, a village with speed bumps everywhere so I was changing from 3rd to 1st to 2nd to 3rd constantly for about 8 kms then as I arrived and parked I heard a pop in the pedal bay and my clutch pedal stayed halfway down and it wouldn't spring back immediately.

I found this piece on the floor and have no idea where it goes. It seems to be above somewhere where the pedal goes out of sight. The car starts and changes gears as I tried it. But the pedal stays down. Any ideas what this piece is? Easy to fix?

Because it's weekend I can't do anything till Monday morning and I found a mechanics that's pretty popular here in the town where I am. So any help would be fantastic thanks.

Are the photos up?

P.S. EVERYTHING ON THE PEDAL THE SPRINGS AND EVERYTHING SEEM TO BE IN ORDER AND INTACT.

I'm a Brit living in Spain.

Page 1415 onwards in the free JLR workshop manual shows the clutch controls for LHD and RHD cars.

Maybe you can identify the part from those diagrams. Jules

Note ---
The FL2 Manual Clutch is a diaphragm type and although its self adjusting I believe it needs careful fitting.

From previous experience on (early) diaphragm clutch equipped cars, the spring can go over-centre if the clutch is worn or poorly fitted, giving symptoms similar to what I think you are describing.

PS Just above where Jules is indicating at page 1400 onwards is a bit more Manual Clutch info including a fault finding guide (although I can't see a match for your problem) FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)
