2013 Freelander 2 TD4 SE Manual Orkney Grey

DEG5Y, I don't so much mind the system/interface, but the satnav doesn't seem to always give the best route and sometimes seem to be going round in circles.

The one you now have is too expensive for me, but looks top notch!

ReggiePerrin, just noticed your link for USB software update and cost, thanks.

The link I received for 'LAND ROVER GEN2.1 SAT NAV MAP 2021 UPDATE' is from 'satnavishop.co.uk' costing £89. Anybody know if there's anywhere else that sells it at a a cheaper price?... If not, I think it makes more sense to purchase a separate new one for a few extra pounds.

I think the USB update gets your VIN embedded into it and will only work in the car with that VIN.

Unlike the earlier DVD versions (which are not coded to a specific car) that can be copied and sold by anybody, I have never seen budget or rip-off versions of the USB upgrades.

Before buying my Garmin device, the same retailer in my link above wanted £169 per USB upgrade and for that, I would have had to provide my VIN and my own USB stick to download the upgrade - the price has fallen considerably since then.

Well it's either a Garmin or just use Waze/google maps etc.. on my iPhone. Possibly both.

The more I've looked in to updating the software the more I see negatives - '20/'21 maps, so obviously still out of date. No auto updates, no live traffic/accidents etc... and to TBH, not the best graphics/interface. So now ruled out.

Will probably start a new thread to see what device other freelander owners use to mount their iPhone.

That is about the lowest price you will get - most of the cost is the permission code from JLR.

The install is easy just plug the USB in and away it goes it will ask for a code (which is the JLR expensive bit) and the USB is VIN locked, it does take some time but if you stop the car it will pick up from where it left off MY13 HSE Lux Santorini Black Gone
