I wonder if the FL2 figure of 755l includes the spare wheel well as many originally came with a canister and pump rather than a spare wheel. Some sources quote space as 405l which sounds more like it to me.

I doubt it. Just did a quick measurement (an under-estimate- as ignored extra width outside the arches and space next to windows) and it came to 680L so I think 755L is probably correct. Jules

Interesting thread, didn't realise the xc60 and fl2 were related.

The latest XC60 has nothing in common with the FL2 (a 20 year old design) Jules

We do find that the boot space is a little on the smaller size at times, but then years ago we had a Volvo estate and that spoiled us. Very Happy

Yes I find the FL2 boot space a bit small some times but I too was spoiled - Discovery 2 and Octavia estate; both a tardis on wheels Jules

When the kids are little a big estate was needed for all their stuff. When they are older you would think that a large boot is not needed, but we are still needed for moving stuff. Just different stuff. Very Happy

don't buy a New Defender 110, thinking this is a BIG boot. NO it is smaller than my FL2 !!!

Anything after a Discovery 2 seems to have a small boot! The amount of wine it could smuggle import into the UK was fantastic. The Freelander does seem small by comparison but it's perfectly adequate 99% of the time. Anything that won't go in, it has roof rails or I'll take the trailer. Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948

The Volvo XC60 range of power units and specs contains some interesting features and would be/ will be high on my list of FL2 replacements.

The 'Inscription Pro' trim is worth looking for as it has EVERYTHING including Air Suspension.

The 'T8 Twin Charge' really takes my eye, if you are lucky you can find an 18.8Kwh 'run-out' model which carries most of the latest version's tech (electric power and range).

PS - I find this 'Disabled Consumers' site very good for comparing dimensions.
