2007 Freelander 2 TD4 GS Manual Stornoway Grey

Throtle body replacement

Folks - having the throttle body replaced today - does the car need to be told that a new part has been fitted? via the ODBC port?

Thanks - can that be done manually? battery reset?

AFAIK air path calibration needs and specific hardware/software. I paid £30 for a friend of a friend to do it. Jules

many people have changed the throttle body and not had a calibration and everything was fine yes a calibration would be a good idea but my personal opinion is that the Ecu reads the parameters and recalibrates to the new throttle body settings I have changed a couple now and after a bit of wiring and clicking from the new TB on initial ignition on everything seemed to be ok. Before members start giving me stick "Remember this is only my opinion"

Hi Suckfish.
How did the throttle body replacement go? did it need re-calibration, why was it being changed had the internal cogs worn if so there is a kit to repair.

2009 Freelander 2 TD4_e XS Manual Barolo Black

My throttle body stuck shut so engine would not rev past tick over.
Replaced it with one from Euro Car Parts, did not have any calibration done. This was 12 months ago and had no issues.

Would agree, just fit and forget. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.
Freelander now gone.

Thats good to know.

When I replaced my EGR valve and air path calibration was definitely required as the engine went into limp mode every time until the calibration was done. Jules
