Hi all

Welcome to Freel2.com, the brand new community web site for prospective owners, enthusiasts and everything else related to the forthcoming Freelander 2 (LR2) from Land Rover.

I'm Martin and I currently run DISCO3.CO.UK and RRSPORT.CO.UK - very similar sites for the new Discovery 3/LR3 and the Range Rover Sport.

Anyway, say hello here, let us know if you've got any info on the new Freelander, or have one on order, or just like the look of them from the spy shots so far Wink

Please have a play with the forum and gallery, and do let me know any problems or queries.

Enjoy!

Martin

FL2 engine undertrays.

Hello. I’m Wayne. Be gentle I’m a silver surfer and a total newbie to Landy ownership also very fresh to this site.
I run a 2012 FL2 XS. Only had the car since January and so far am quite pleased.
I do have one quick question (I hope), when I bought the car there wasn’t an engine undertray.
My neighbour sold me one really cheap as it was just sat in his garage. It is marked FL2 TD4.
For some reaso it doesn’t fit my car. The question is, did the design change from 2010 to 2012 ?.
Many thanks in advance.

England 2011 Freelander 2 SD4 HSE Auto Baltic Blue
My new FL2

After lots of looking, I finally bought a 2011 Freelander 2 last week, SD4 HSE in Baltic Blue. Looks great and drives well.

I have some technical questions I'll raise in other channels. But a few observations. It has great presence on the road and a great driving position. It goes fast enough and very comfortable. A few gripes, there is almost no storage space, the glove box is smaller than my MX5 and doesnt even lock. The only other storage of any size is the door pockets. The other is the dials seem very dark, even in the night.

Anyway, thanks for the forum.
Chris

The light on the dials is adjustable, may be the previous owner had turned them down (or one of the bulbs has blown). There is a dial on the dashboard that adjusts this low down on the right hand side. MY13 HSE Lux Santorini Black Gone

Finally!

Hello!

I’ve finally got a Land Rover after years of oogling passing by defenders, discos and freelanders. I’ve got a 2010 TD4 E Freelander 2 S. it’s had a bit of a life.. but, it’s here now and I’m already getting stuck in. Throttle body replaced, tyres changed and I’ve just replaced the crank position sensor which (fingers crossed) has fixed some of the teething problems.

Looking forward joining in the forum that’s helped me out from afar over the last few weeks!

Welcome Bear, one item that you'll need to check/replace
is the battery, these motors are in need of a good healthy battery,
we're looking at 4 years max. DAVE.

I’ve got one on order! I checked voltage and it was riding a little low so can’t hurt to stick a fresh one in there. It looks like it’s had services at regular times, with the basic stuff done, but zero else done to it. Better start saving up for a timing belt change..!

Checking in

Morning all

I’m a second time around FL2 owner having just bought a tidy 2013 Td4 GS auto with only 62k miles and 2 previous owners. We used to own a 2008 HSE which we sold after a string of failures to the Haldex, throttle body and other things but that one was over 130k miles so I’m hoping the latest one will be more reliable.

I’ve had lots of LR’s over 30 years and also own a new Defender but I can’t stand my local dealer so I will be fixing this one myself (also own a Series 2a) or using a very good local specialist when needed.

Immediate priorities are:

4 new tyres and tracking as one tyre is scuffed
Figuring out of the whine after stopping is a problem (5-10 minutes)
Haldex service (having previously had one fail)
New timing belt and water pump (necessary or not at 62k / 11 years)
Inspect intercooler hoses

Any thoughts or comments very welcome. I will try not to ask too many stupid questions!

United Kingdom

Hello,

Recently bought a 11 plate Freelander 2, my first Land Rover. It's a smooth comfortable drive. She's getting on a bit so not perfect, but very much hope to get many years of good driving.

This is a great site, thanks for setting this up and keeping it going.

Hi Folks,

FL2 owner for a few years often browsed here but usually on a diff forum.
Currently sitting under my car fixing fuel sensor issue and working out if it's best to haldex now or after.
