Return lines are connected yep.

And watched the injector fire.

Set her back up, bled the fuel through.
She fired straight up. Ran like a dog, wouldn't rev past 3000rpm.
Then cut out.


Now, I've got p0087-21 fuel rail/system pressure to low.

And from 20000kpa on crank. To 500kpa

You couldn't make it up

I cracked the fuel line from pump to rail. And there is fuel coming from the pump.

Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the fuel rail pressure sensor circuit for short circuit to ground, short circuit to power, open circuit, high resistance

Check the fuel lines for any signs of leakage, replace as required

Check the fuel lines for any signs of damage, crimping or restrictions, replace as required

Check for blocked air filter, replace as required

I would check to see that the ECM to Sensor-Pressure-Fuel Rail was connected and undamaged first and all connections were tight and sound. Don't go looking elsewhere, without thoroughly checking for this especially around where you have been working.

Also your readings may be derived from this (faulty?) circuit, and be meaningless. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)

Just to point out, noid lights do work on these engines. Cheap enough and will tell you if the injectors are receiving a signal. Now at the point when I learn something new something old is lost out the other side !
Now retired so it doesn't matter anymore.

Tried a fair few things, but the months had taken its toll on the interior. So Scrapped it..

And got a HST FL2.

Eek! I’m chasing a p0087-22 fuel rail pressure low problem… switched out the HPFP today… no change.

Rail pressure is controlled by the pressure relief valve on the end of the fuel rail. Maybe it's not holding pressure, so bleeding rail pressure back to the return lines? Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car.

Is that the pressure relief regulator? Was thinking of this and/or the sensor at the far end.

Update - fitted a replacement HPFP, fuel rail pressure sensor and fuel rail regulator.

Engine still cutting out and going into reduced performance.

was initially coming iup with egr faults (stuck open etc) but these are gone and the one that haunts me still is low pressure in the fuel rail. Filter was changed to LR genuine but no resolve.

wondering if its on the low pressure side or injectors?

Note - These symptoms started appearing several months after running out of fuel (not sure if related) but the first guy from green flag couldnt get it started, the specialist came out and im pretty sure he opened the supply lines to one of the injectors to get it started - not sure if this is relevant?

No mention of live data readings, what are they

This is a snapshot of live data from fuel rail. You can see it sits at what I think is a normal level then ‘blips’ down, some times it recovers, other times it’s cuts out.

If the car hasn’t moved for a few weeks… it drives great for the first 5 or so miles then switches back to cutting out.

I’m a novice, so any data you need, let me know and how to get it and I’ll do that.
