Other half uses the car for work and uses the sat nav all the time.

Sorry to hijack the thread, but my Sat nav sometimes keeps resetting and going off with a bleep. It will then freeze and only works when the engine is switched off and on again. |

Nick had a quirk with his Sat Nav, it would not hold the map direction when you turned the ignition off, replaced a module that would have been Ł1500 if it was out of warranty p****d off with a Digital Keyboard Warrior |

buy a tom tom and stick it on the glass of the old one , better back up and cheaper updates

Sounds as if some sort of circuit board back up battery that keeps part of the system memory powered up after switch off has failed. A bit like the 2032 batteries on computer mother boards that eventually fail and you have to keep resetting the clock. You would need to get the unit out and find the component. 3 x FL1 2 manual + 1 auto
