Success! Lots of wire brushing, lots of freeze lubricant and some gentle tapping with a small ball peen hammer on a long 9mm socket placed over the offending nipple and it released. I already had a clamp on the hose so whipped the rusted nippe out smartish and immediately put a new one in. Same as last week, 24PSI and bled through to clean fluid. Took it for a spin up the road, hammered the ABS with the NS wheels on some gravel and everything felt spot on. Also fitted yet another tailgate release handle..... They do like to fail! Then did an oil change on the rear diff. Big syringe and some flexi pipe, I got just over 650ml out. Next weekend I start building up the springs/struts for the rear suspension rebuild. Current driveway contents: 2021 V60 Cross Country B5 2009 FL2 dog bus and shooting wagon On Order: 2023 Fisker Ocean Ultra - deposit paid. |

Swapped out the alternator for a refurb. Clutch had gone on the old one, made a huge difference to noise and vibrations. Corrado VR6 Mystic Blue - Gone

Put the new rear springs/shocks together with all new ancillaries (boots, bolts, isolators etc). Fitted up the the arms to the new subframe. Chucked it all in the boot so I can give it to my mate's guys to fit it all on the ramps at his garage, because I'm too old to be dicking around lying under a car on my driveway doing something of this scale.

I think dealer courtesy car charges are way OTT. My stealer wanted a lot of money for damage insurance the last time I used them. My local indie charges £10 which includes insurance and fuel - although I expect that only covers a reasonable amount of fuel. My insurance covers me for damage etc. to a loan car while my car is in for repair or service but it was easier to go with the garage scheme.
