Not too old to be failing then. What have you replaced them with? Landrover - turning owners into mechanics since 1948 2014 Orkney grey Freelander SD4 GS. 2004 Zambezi silver Discovery 2 Td5 (Gone) 1963 Surf blue Morris Mini Minor Super de Luxe (my little toy) |

It could be a tyre fault, as rubber can degrade, although 6 years isn't that old. It was sensible to have them replaced. Something else that springs to mind, it could be the tyres are being overloaded by a faulty Haldex. Hyundai Ioniq 5 Ultimate. The family car. 2009 Rimini Red SE TD4. Gone. 2006 Tonga Green i6 HSE. Gone. Audi A5 convertible, my daily driver. 1972 Hillman Avenger GT, the project. |

6 years for a tyre is getting to its limit. Procrastination, mankind's greatest labour saving device!

They can do as the tread compounds are discrete bands around the tyre. More likely to be used on a motorcycle tyre where you want grippy compound on the edges and longer lasting compound in the middle. Unlikely on an all season SUV tyre though. |

Hi nodge68. I've thought of this and did'nt want to believe it. The HALDEX has had oil&filter change a job which entails running the car for 1/2 a mile or so, then topping up when the filter is full, if that final bit was omitted what might be the consequences?? |

I cant see how haldex issues could cause that front tyre wear. Jules |
