I agree with Jules, the FL2 spends most of its life in front wheel drive mode with only a small amount of the torque being sent to the rear by the haldex clutch. I think that the tyre tyre damage shown must be deterioration caused by age or overheating of the (suspect?) tyre compound. I have never ever seen or heard of tyre damage like this before, so, to me, it remains a complete mystery. Only scenario (most unlikely) is hammering down a motorway with severely under under inflated front tyre that overheated the tyre walls and outer tread??? Even then I think the complete evenness of the damage rules this out, I am surprised that this hasn't lead to bulging or complete tyre failure. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011) FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015) Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History (Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?) |

Hi, Jules as I've changed the tyres I'll stick with Bossbob 32.PSI. But I will look into your suggested site. |

I ran an FL2 on Goodyear Wranglers for 12 years (changing as appropriate) at 32 psi and didn’t get tyre damage like the OP. |

The only time I've seen tyres do that is on a rolling road or on the race track.
