Good evening all, I'm Dave and I've just registered. I don't own a Freelander yet but I'm considering one as a replacement for my X Trail. Hoping to pick up some useful info to help make an informed purchase.

United Kingdom 2014 Freelander 2 SD4 Metropolis LE Auto Fuji White

Welcome

There are plenty of threads on forum discussing which model is best.

examples

https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic38775.html?highlight=metro

https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic31000.ht...cification

And down loads of handbooks are in this thread

https://www.freel2.com/forum/topic10621.html

Just makes sure you know its history, and have some warranty, from my experience, if you choose carefully Freelander2's are quite reliable. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History
(Expensive, but Trouble/Worry free - hopefully?)

Hi Dave, welcome! As IanMetro says service history and look at options you desire. Heated screen, in winter pack, leather seats, sunroof etc. I personally would want both and the top spec hifi of the HSE makes it my pick as it has everything basically. Haldex service history is important.
Up to you, budget and spec are your only constraints...and finding one!
Best of luck with your search!

Thanks for the welcome. I didn't realise the Metropolis was so close to HSE spec so I'm including them in my search. Now to find the perfect one...

Metropolis was effectively the 'run out' version of the HSE Lux. For some reason, the Lux only ever wore the HSE badge but had some features over and above the HSE.

Attn == Dave the Second

I think that the most important addition that the LUX (and Metro) had over the HSE was the XENON Headlights.
The standard lights on the last FL2 couple of years production of the FL2 were very poor.

(and on a few very cold mornings, I also appreciate the Heated Steering Wheel)

But as said many times on the Forum, study the pictures of the advertised car closely as many cars have upgraded features, that are not always listed. FL2 XS SD4 Auto 2010 2012-2017 (21k - 91k miles) (MY2011)
FL2 Metropolis SD4 Auto 2014 2017- (16k - 77k+ miles) (MY2015)
Metro in its 11th Year of (Extended) LR Warranty / Full LR Service History

Hi all. I've recently registered on here but been a long-time user over on the Defender2 sister forum as L90Andy.
I've chosen my username here to tie into that, but also as a LR employee I used to work on the L359 project back when I started in 2003. Old memories now but remember the team dealing with PAG colleagues in Volvo and Ford about making sure the EUCD platform could deliver the required Land Rover attributes and being pretty proud of what we'd achieved when Freelander 2 finally launched.
I've subsequently been involved in Evoque and Disco Sport development, and plenty since, but always had a soft spot for the Freelander2.
Now with life changes I'm pretty much done with Defender's and am thinking of buying a Freelander2 next, so looking forward to getting involved here.
As with my Defender's, I'll likely do a thread on the resultant car here as a contribution to the site, while also asking many questions I'm sure!

Hi all,

Just upgraded my FL1 3dr for a Freelander 2.
Although the FL1 hasn't been sold yet, needs a clutch fitting first.

Sam.

Hi All,

Just bought a FL2 after the death of a 300tdi, Td5 and D3. Fingers crossed for some longevity from the Freelander.

Hello, new member on Freelander forum here. Not new on Land Rover though. Had a Discovery 1 for a very long time. And had a 2 for a very short time.... And of course there was a 90 for a while Very Happy

Bought a Freelander last year for very little money. Came from a neighbours place where it stood still most of the year. It was a Holiday home and the car wasn't used very much last few years.
It's a FREELANDER 2 (L359) 2.2 TD4 4x4 (152 hp) with only 353.000 kilometers on the clock.

After some farm use I finally made some reparations to get it through Technical Control and so have it insured. Did al that last Friday and guess what??? --- Now a problem came up Sad
Changed the fuel filter already because it was sputtering, after that the problem was actually solved --(made a 300 km trip with trailer with it) and now its stuttering again.
This started actually after i nearly had run it empty and filled it up. I suspect having sucked up sludge from bottom of the tank and causing something issues with fuel supply.

Have been reading some other posts already so I'll spend my Easter weekend playing home mechanic on the car.

Happy Egg hunting everyone Whistle

Hello all!
Glad to be here, great site for information for FR2, thank you for all the great posts & info.
I have a problem with my key fobs;
Not always unlocking doors, windows going down, instead of opening doors, or just intermittently working. Works fine when inserted into dash…2010 FL2, have it from new, so I’m guessing the batteries are on way out on both key fobs?
I believe from reading posts there is a possibility of getting the fobs repaired by a very well recommended guy on this forum?
Could anyone help me with this please?
With thanks,
Magroc Thumbs Up
