My amp / AAM came off a Jaguar XJ (X351), but you have to be careful with the part numbers!

Hello, so I got all the parts bought and got them mounted. Now the question is what changes i have to make to activate them? Can anyone tell me after I connect to the car what settings to change? Thank you!

Today i went to a diagnose service to activate the changes made to the sound system and the guy said that in order to do so he has to update the car soft and that is a risk to fail and loose everything... Not a risk I would take... The second option is to backup a soft from another LR with premium from factory and write it on mine.
What do you think/now about this?

There is always a risk flashing a chip/module. The most important consideration in my mind would be the supply charger to keep the battery maintained at 13.6 volts and at 25-30 amps. The second important consideration would be not to disconnect the programmer or computer until it's successfully flashed. Keep flashing until it takes or you will need a replacement module regardless. If there is a power failure while the process is underway, you are SOL.

If you have skills, you can re and re the chip. Not an easy task or for the faint of heart.

I don't think any mechanic or specialist is going to want to assume liability here if there is no warranty on the vehicle. If you decide to run the update be sure that the operator knows WTH they are doing.

Adrian02, Which module does you mechanic think needs updating?

My FL2 is still running the Jag XJ software in the AAM, and works fine.
If they mean they have to write the modified CCF back to the car, then you don't have a choice about that.

Sounds like you need to go to a different place. The CCF edit is reasonably straight forward and low risk, assuming, as MotionInc states, that they know what they are doing and have the battery connected to a battery support unit.

I went to the best guy on cars diagnose and mod in my area and after a few hours of testing and reaserch, even from LR dealership he arrived tt the conclusion that is impossible to make changes to the cars software as it is now, maybe because this is a 2014 FL and JLR made it more restrictive. That being said he gave me 2 options:
1. Software update on the car with the latest version and after that he can make any changes i want. but theres a kicker, it's a possibility for the update to fail and lose your modules on the way and you're fked... he is willing to do it but will take no responsibility in case of failure;
2. I need a back-up soft from an FL2 HSE to modify it and write it on my car, risk free apparently.
What is your opinion on this?
I was talking with a guy from a Facebook group of FL 2 owners and he said my mechanic is wrong and the modification is doable with the proper knowledge and equipment.
@Vanny my mechanic was talking about the navigation module, dont know if i understand it correctly.
Right now im stuck at this part after weeks of search for parts and a decent investment.
Please guide me to what i should do next.
The steps to take in SDD or some photos would be very much appreciated.

By the way, the rear pillar speakers are working without making any software changes. Do them work at full capacity? I don't know... But if they do, is it worth the trubble for one more speaker?

The C pillar speakers definatley shouldnt work on anything other than a Premium amp with the relevent vehicle CCF coding

I have read and reread this thread over the last 3 days to ensure I have all the info. Problem is is that none of the FL2's in South Africa came with premium systems, they where all Hi line 325 watt Meridian, which is what i have in my Freelander.

Thanks to Stuart, Cambo and the rest, I have all the part numbers for the 3 speakers and the amp, problem is sourcing these from around the world wither ebay or others. If anyone has knowledge of where I can source all at the same time. Please could you let me know.

I doubt you will source the parts from one location.

Have you acoustically fixed the Freelander, not that is was bad to start with, but it is amazing how much you can lower the background noise if you put the effort in. About 2 weeks work, worth every minute as far as I am concerned.
