If its only one door, I would think it's a sensor or switch problem on that door.

Not expensive or difficult to replace the 2 electric motors in each latch - just time consuming as it involves a lot of dismantling of the door.

After a teacher at my school having her laptop stolen from the back seat of her car via an unlocked rear door while stopped at a road junction by some scroat I think I’ll keep mine activated thanks. The same with only unlocking the drivers door rather than all of them. The experience of having the passenger door opened by an opportunist thief (happened to my mum in a ‘posh’ area of Bristol) led her to purposefully disable the electrical passenger door lock of her 2 door car! |

Living in Cornwall, I don't need to worry about such things. If I drive to a dodgy area, I can lock the car when needed, but I definitely don't want the car to decide when that is.
There are 2 motors in the door lock assembly. One motor disconnects the external handle (this is what happens at 5 MPH), the other motor disconnects the interior release lever too, this motor is only activated when the vehicle is super-locked from the fob. Nobody would call the high street in Westbury on Trym a dodgy area so we’ll leave it at that! |

Please explain what is not actually happening when the doors are auto locking. Is it both internal and external handles, and does the little internal lever move to 'lock' position.

Yes that’s all very good Gordon but what exactly happens when the little lever is pressed and the fob button is pressed once while indicating left and turning the radio on ? |

Thanks Gordon for checking all the modes. I think that as you have proved that the actual physical locking system is working, but something is going wrong with the communication from the CJB or its inputs that help it decide when to send locking signal. Unless anyone else has some sensible ideas, we need a bit of time to study your results and see what clues the repair manual give us.
